Just a short scenic drive from Richmond a warm and friendly welcome is assured at Stoneygate Farm Shop and Café. On the meat counter we showcase beef, pork and lamb from the farm, carefully prepared by our team of highly skilled butchers. Complementing this, is a fully stocked deli counter with cooked meats, pies, savouries, and local cheeses. We also keep fresh fruit, veg, bread and dairy products. The café offers a mouth-watering range of breakfast and lunch meals plus lighter-bite options throughout the day. We have daily specials and a very tempting sweet and cake counter. Everything is homemade.
We also have a comfortable outdoor seating area too. A café by day, restaurant by night! We are open on selected evenings providing a true farm to plate experience. We also serve a proper traditional Sunday lunch that features our home-reared produce. The Tennant family and their staff love welcoming new and regular customers alike and will do their utmost to make your visit truly special.
Stoneygate Farm
Stoneygate Farm is a small none intensive farm using old fashioned traditional methods to slowly raise native breeds of animals for future use in the farm shop and kitchen. Beef breeds are predominantly the beef shorthorn which is a breed indigenous to the local area and are best slow grown on a diet of grass and silage producing a superior tasting beef.
We use old native breed pigs to produce the most succulent pork which carries extra interior and exterior fat for greater flavour and the delicious crunchy crackling is to die for. We have Tamworth, Gloucester old spot and Hampshire breeds helping to preserve the old breeds of English pigs. Sheep Breeds include native breeds indigenous to the area. We predominantly use Hogget lamb for the farm shop and kitchen which is older lamb that has been slowly grown for 1 to 2 years providing in our opinion a superior tasting product. Mutton is also available on request. In addition to our own farm we work with a range of other local farms to help us meet the increasing demand for our products and services.
The Café/Restaurant
Our recently extended inside seating area is cosy and warm and is open for breakfast, lunch and evening dinner (limited to certain evenings) as well as all day refreshments. We can seat 30 to 40 people inside depending on group sizes and weather permitting we have space for a similar number to sit outside. We pride ourselves on offering a warm and friendly welcome and like to engage with our customers always trying to satisfy their diverse requirements. The café/ restaurant is licensed to sell and serve alcohol and we have a small range of wines, spirits and none alcoholic drinks so hopefully there is something to meet everyone’s taste. In order to avoid disappointment we do recommend booking during peak periods and weekends.
The Shop
The farm shop allows us to showcase our own products produced on the farm as well as a growing range of other products produced locally and nationally. We support other local business and try to buy local whenever possible. You can find an extensive range of products covering meat, dairy, bakery, fruit & veg, condiments, drinks, wine and beer etc.
The Butchery
We have a dedicated on-site butchery department that serves the farm shop and is able to cope with specific customer needs or specifications on demand. We take great pride in selecting and preparing traditional meat cuts as well as putting a modern slant on things too. In addition, we produce all of our own bacon, ham, black pudding and other charcuterie products in-house as well.
All our meat is carefully prepared for hanging and dry aging to help develop the flavour and eating experience. Our small team of professional butchers can also provide private butchery services for other farmers and small holders in the area.
Kitchen
A relatively new addition to the farm shop is a professional kitchen fully kitted out with all the necessary equipment to service the café and restaurant. A small team of chefs and cooks prepare fresh food daily for the café and restaurant. The kitchen bakes daily to service the farm shop and café with fresh pies, cakes, scones and other savoury and sweet products. We try to use locally sourced ingredients where possible and always use seasonal produce on the menus for the café and restaurant.
BBQ
In the summer season we like to cook on the BBQ’s preparing grilled meats and vegetables as well as long slow cooking and smoking of joints such as brisket, pulled pork and lamb.
Private Functions
Wanting a venue for a private party? We can cater for virtually any needs using our inside and outside areas and at certain times of the year we can use the cattle sheds as an internal seating venue for a more rustic approach to your private function.
Farm Tours
On a seasonal basis we can provide private tours of the farm for small parties. These are guided tours including a trailer ride around the farm to see the various animals we have as well as some of the nature that’s taken up residence with us.
Farm Stays
On a seasonal basis we can cater for campervans and touring caravans on a small scale offering quite basic facilities but with the added advantage of the on-site farm shop and café/ restaurant.
