HEROES Fiscal Year 2020 Annual Report

Meet Our Heroes

2019/2020 was a year like no other. It was a year of hashtages—#ForgottenFaces, #WeAreEssential, and #WeAreHeroes. We made it through thanks to the resilience of our clients, the dedication of our staff, and the support of our familes—heroes, every single one. Thanks to our many donors including Don & CarolAnne Hossler, Stone Belt is able to fulfill its mission of preparing, empowering, and supporting people with developmental disabilities and their families. “For us, it is personal, because our son, Jonathan, has realized the power of the Stone Belt commitment for the past 20 years,” said CarolAnne Hossler. “We believe that Stone Belt in every way fulfills the commitments it makes to the clients and community it serves as well as the larger community at the local, state, and national levels.” In 2020, Stone Belt was able to meet the needs of its clients even though our facilities were temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Behavioral Support staff, Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), Employment Services, Lifelong Learning staff, Nurses, Pre-Employment Transition Services, Project SEARCH staff, Residential Support staff, Manufacturing Support staff, and many others stepped up to make sure our clients were supported. “I wish more people recognized the work of DSPs in making sure people with disabilities stay safe and engaged,” said Stone Belt DSP Brandon Duncan. “The world may have stopped, but essential workers have not.”
