The Stones River National Cemetery is the final resting place for more than 6,000 Union soldiers killed at the battle. Murfreesboro is also home to the chilling Confederate Circle inside Evergreen Cemetery, a mass grave that contains the remains of Confederate soldiers killed in the Battle of Stones River.

Antebellum

Mansions Oaklands Historic House Museum is a graceful mansion that was caught in the crossfire of the Civil War and was used as a camp by both the Union and Confederate armies. The Sam Davis Home was the boyhood plantation home of a Civil War hero who was captured and executed at the age of 21.
