The Brinnington Circle

The Ageing in Place Pathfinder Project and Stockport Homes are excited to be bringing the award winning and internationally recognised Circle model to create the Brinnington Circle. The Brinnington Circle will create a fun and entertaining monthly calendar of events and activities designed and suggested by older people themselves, creating new friendships and opportunities in the local community.

Our approach is to allow older people to develop and design the things they want to do, how and when they do them and then facilitate their ideas, suggestions and volunteering opportunities

We have a meeting every six weeks, the next being Tuesday 30th July 2-4 at First House, where you can meet the team, find out about the fun activities we have planned and put your views forward

We are excited to work with local people to bring the Brinnington Circle to life, connecting older people, putting on some fantastic events and activities and having fun along the way!

A Day at the Races

Last month saw the Brinnington labour club transformed into a hive of racing activity. The ladies were looking resplendent in their finery and fascinators, whilst the bookie, Paul, had put his best cap on!

The AIPP put together a programme of racing for the afternoon, which was projected onto the big screen for the occasion. The popcorn was popping as was the prosecco and the bets were coming fast There were big winners and big losers (mainly the bookie Paul) and at the end of the event, the team that had won the most money were the residents of Bryn Haven who had joined us specially for the event The fact it was paper money, and it was all for a bit of fun didn’t dampen the racegoer’s enthusiasm whose cheers and laughter brightened up a damp Monday afternoon

There was a serious point to the fun which was about bringing our older community together It was lovely to see the residents from the care home having a great time and people attended who were new to the AIPP project. People made new connections and found out about all the activities going on in the area.
