May was a very busy month for the Ageing in Place Team from starting the Community Audits to holding our very first Camerados Public Living room in the ground of the Lighthouse Church. Keep an eye out for a tent and brew near you!
We also saw the Community Garden come to fruition with help from the local community, pupils from St Bernadettes, residents from Appleton Manor and plants were donated by the pupils at Banks Lane Primary school who attend a gardening club at Webb Lane Allotments. A wonderful example of communities working together for green spaces.
Would you like to go to the Theatre, have a trip down the Canal, visit other areas of Greater Manchester? Circle is whatever you make it - so get involved.

As we’re now well into the winter season and we’re spending more time indoors, it’s a good time to think about how to stay safe from fire at home.
Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service (GMFRS) deliver free Home Fire Safety Assessments in the community. During the visit they provide fire safety advice and equipment depending on risk. They’ll need to talk to you about your health, home environment and your daily activities in order to understand your fire risk and provide the best advice for you.
How do I book a Home Fire Safety Assessment?
You can visit www.manchesterfire.gov.uk/your-safety/hfsa/ and fill in the Online Home Fire Safety Check to find out whether you are eligible for a visit. At the end of the check, you will be provided with online fire safety advice or, if you are eligible for a visit, you will be asked to submit your contact details. GMFRS will then telephone you to arrange your appointment.
Who can have a Home Fire Safety Assessment?
If you are a Greater Manchester resident and are concerned that your physical or mental health, home environment or daily activities might increase your fire risk or reduce your chances of escape, you may be eligible for a visit.
What if I am not eligible for a Home Fire Safety Assessment?
You will be provided with personalised fire safety advice at the end of your online check.
What if I can’t fill in the online check?
You can telephone us on 0800 555 815 and our contact centre staff will assist you and book your Home Fire Safety Assessment if you are eligible for a visit.
Will I get a free smoke alarm?
