Beloved Parents,

It is with great joy that I welcome you and your children to our Saint Nectarios Greek School and wish you the best for what we are foreseeing to be a very promising year. Registrations are underway and we look forward to everyone’s’ participation.

Our Saint Nectarios Greek School, known for always striving to provide a strong curriculum, will provide our children the opportunity to learn about the virtues of Hellenism and Orthodoxy. They will also receive instruction through using the new technology in our renovated classrooms.

Dear Parents,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the beginning of the new school year at our Greek School.

We are delighted to welcome our students back to a renewed environment filled with life and enthusiasm for learning. Our goal remains to provide a quality education in the Greek language and culture, while instilling in our students values such as solidarity, respect, and critical thinking. Our curriculum is designed with modern pedagogical trends in mind and takes into account the needs of our students. Our aim is the holistic development of children, cultivating their skills and talents.

We are proud of our highly qualified and dedicated teaching staff. Our teachers have extensive experience and high expertise in teaching the Greek language and culture.

Throughout the school year, we organize various events and activities aimed at enhancing the cognitive and emotional development of our students.

Located in the heart of Roslindale, we offer a well-rounded program that teaches students about Greek language, culture, customs, religion, and more.

A Greek lesson is not only about developing Writing, Listening, Speaking and Reading skills, but also a process that brings learners closer to the Greek History, Culture, Customs and Reality.

Our Greek school offers a comprehensive education, immersing students in the rich tapestry of Greek culture. Through renovated classrooms and digital technology, we provide a modern and engaging learning experience.

The curriculum of the Greek School consists of a well rounded program of subjects designed for each age, grade and skill level.

Students recite poems, sing songs, perform plays and demonstrate traditional greek traditional dances and choir.

MOTIVATE-When students know that they will have an opportunity to share their work with others, they are more likely to be motivated to do their best.

Every year, our school cultivates original and creative partnerships with schools across Greece. This year, our students had the opportunity to participate in two distinct and inspiring initiatives:

"Two Worlds, One Language": A collaboration with the Dionysos Attica Elementary School focused on promoting Greek language and culture through interaction and creativity

"Flame of Olympism": A partnership with the Gastouni Middle School centered on the values of Olympism, such as fair play, friendship, and peace.

In addition to these significant collaborations, our school offers a rich variety of engaging events for students and parents:

Traditional Music Workshop: A unique workshop with the "Anatoliama Ensemble”, introducing students to the rich tradition of Greek music.

Presentations and Seminars for Parents: Informative and constructive events for parents, aimed at supporting their child's educational journey.

CURRICULUM GOALS

OUR CURRICULUM FOR PRE-K- 6 GRADES AND ALL SKILL LEVELS INCLUDES:

Reading: With a little practice, you'll learn to read Greek quickly and easily

Culture: Explore the rich traditions and customs of our land.

Mythology: Immerse yourself in ancient Greek stories and myths

Writing: Through creative writing exercises, storytelling, poetry, and other literary genres, we cultivate our students' imaginative, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Geography: We travel around Greece through maps, photos, stories, and interactive activities.

Dance: Express yourself through movement. Teaching traditional dances.

Speaking: We improve our students' speech while encouraging the expression of ideas, listening, and healthy dialogue.

History: We travel through time and discover important historical periods, events, and people. We understand the causes, effects, and lessons of history.

Orthodox Faith: We incorporate the values and teachings of the Orthodox Faith into the educational process. We provide our students with a moral framework and connect with our spiritual heritage.

Choir: Join our school choir and develop your singing voice while learning about Greek choral music and traditions

Ellinomatheia: We are dedicated to preparing our students to pass the Greek language certification exams.

NECTARIOS GREEK SCHOOL PTA

The Saint Nectarios Greek School Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is a parent-run group that organizes and funds initiatives and enrichment programs for our children at the Saint Nectarios Greek School.

We work closely with Father Odisseys Drossos, the Parish Council, principal, and teachers to sponsor and organize multiple events. We also support the Church with its annual festival, as well as the Sunday School when needed.

Together, we promote the mission of our school to educate and instruct the Greek language and culture to our children

PTA Board

The PTA board consists of 4 officers, each of whom are elected by the PTA members for a two-year term The previous PTA President also serves on the board as an Advisor. The current PTA Board began its 2-year term in July 2024:

EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

The PTA hosts multiple fundraisers throughout the year to help sponsor Greek School events, such as the Christmas Pageant, March 25th celebration, Boston March 25th Parade, and school field trip

The PTA also provides the school supplies and costumes, as well as contribute to needed classroom and technology upgrades

In addition to fundraising, the PTA organizes and manages all of the Greek School events, including catering, decorations, gifts, etc.

SCHOOL CODE OF CONDUCT

CELL PHONES AND SMART WATCHES

CELL PHONES and SMART WATCHES are not allowed to possess and / or use in class Students must hand it over to the teacher before class begins and get it back at the end of the class.

NUT FREE CLASSROOMS

Snack Time:

Nuts and peanuts: Students will not be able to consume any food in the classroom that contains any nut product.

Food should not be part of birthday celebrations.

WARNINGS ON BAD BEHAVIOR

WARNINGS ON BAD BEHAVIOUR will be given two times to each student. If and when the teacher must warn the student a third time on bad behavior, the parents will be notified and a meeting will be scheduled to discuss the problem.

Student Drop-Off / Pick-Up Procedures

The following drop-off and pick-up procedures have been established in order to assure the safety of our students.

Drop-off will begin at 4:25 pm from the door located on Belgrade avenue and 3:55 pm on Mondays for Pre-Kindergarten students.

Dismissal: Mondays at 6 pm Fridays at 6:30 pm

Students will slowly be dismissed from the door located on Robert street

Parents are not permitted to walk into a teacher’s classroom at dismissal time to informally conference with a teacher. Important closing procedures are being conducted at that time Parents and siblings must not congregate at the door; this blocks students from coming out quickly and seeing their parents as they exit the building.

TUITION PRICING TIERS

All-Inclusive Pricing

To provide transparency and simplicity, the 2025 tuition is now allinclusive of fees and commitments. The breakdown is as follows:

Family Stewardship Commitment: $800

Tuition for the Full Academic Year: $750

Fees: $200

Books and supplies for the school year

Subscription to the Ellinopoula Educational Platform (Valued 240/year)

Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) fees

Total Tuition: $1,750

1 Student: $1,750 / Non-Steward $1,950

2 Students: $2,600 (added $650 + fees) / Non-Steward $2,800 (added $650 + fees)

3 Students: $3,350 (added $550 + fees) / Non-Steward $3,550 (added $550 + fees)

4 Students: Free Special Consideration for Families Who Have Already Paid Their 2025 Family Stewardship

If your family has already paid the 2025 $800 Family Stewardship Commitment, this amount will be credited toward your total tuition balance. In such cases, please contact the church office at 617 327 1983, to arrange a customized payment plan or confirm your adjusted tuition amount.

FULL PAYMENT WITH DISCOUNT

Families who choose to pay the full tuition by APRIL 1st will receive a 5% discount (a savings of $138-$228 ) This incentive not only offers savings for families but also supports the school’s financial planning and operational efficiency, helping us maintain the highest standards for our students

WE OFFER A FLEXIBLE SIX-MONTH PAYMENT PLAN TO MAKE TUITION MORE MANAGEABLE

Payments will be divided into six equal installments, with the first payment due by the end of March. This option provides families with the flexibility to spread the cost over time while ensuring the financial stability of our school.

A one-time $50 setup fee will be added to the first payment.

By choosing one of our tuition payment plans, your family is contributing to the success and sustainability of our Greek School program, which provides an enriching educational experience rooted in our Hellenic heritage.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Payments can be made via credit card with PAYPAL by using the Greek School Tuition link (you do not need a PAYPAL account), or by check (please give check to Simela at the office) 1.

Tuition fees are non-refundable unless otherwise specified in writing 2.

Tuition fees must be PAID IN FULL by September 1st, for the student(s) to attend classes.

This deadline is firm, and any outstanding balances from the 2024 School year, as well as the 2025 School year, must be resolved before the start of the academic year.

Students will not be permitted to enroll or attend class until tuition is paid in full.

Families enrolled in the installment plan must ensure that all payments are completed by this date If additional arrangements are needed, such as Financial Aid applications, families must contact the church office well in advance of the deadline .

Meeting this deadline is crucial to ensure proper class placement, teacher assignments, and curriculum planning. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain the high quality of our Greek School program.

Families facing financial hardship are encouraged to contact the office to discuss potential financial assistance.

FINANCIAL AID

To ensure that as many students have access to the Greek School program, regardless of their financial circumstances, two (2) scholarships will be available to assist families with demonstrated financial need. Award amounts may cover 50%-100% of tuition, based on financial circumstances.

Eligibility Criteria to be considered for the need-based financial Scholarships:

Applicants must demonstrate financial need. Families must complete a Financial Aid Application Form, including details of income, expenses, and special circumstances.

Proof of income for the last 3 years (tax returns, pay stubs, and other documentation) is required

Maria, is a dedicated educator and advocate for Greek language and culture. With her expertise and passion, she has created a thriving school that offers personalized programs to help students achieve their goals and experience the rewards of certification. Maria is also involved in promoting Greek culture within the broader community.

MARIA KAMBERIDIS

Maria, a seasoned educator with over 35 years of experience, has taught at various Greek schools in Boston. She is passionate about Greek language and culture and is excited to share her knowledge with new students.

SIMELA MINASIDOU

Simela, a Greek native with a degree in Accounting, has been teaching Greek for over 20 years. She is passionate about education and enjoys sharing her knowledge with students. In her free time, Simela enjoys reading, gardening, and spending time with her family.

Vanessa, a bilingual educator with over 15 years of experience, is passionate about sharing her love of Greece and Greek culture with her students.

MARIA PAVLIDIS

Maria, a first-generation Greek from Boston, is passionate about Greek language and culture. She has a strong educational background and experience teaching Greek in various settings. She is eager to join our team and contribute to our Greek community.

ELPIDA PERISTEROPOULOU

Elpida, a Greek architect-engineer, is passionate about her culture and language. She has lived in Boston for over a decade and is excited to share her love of Greece with children through art, tradition, and learning.

AFRODITI FALIEROS

Afroditi, a native Greek from Athens, is passionate about sharing her language with others. She has experience teaching Greek to bilingual children and is excited to join the Greek School of Saint Nectarios to help students develop their language skills.

ATHANASIA GRIGORIADOU

Athanasia, originally from Greece, now lives in Boston where she studies English Philology. Passionate about teaching her native Greek, especially to children, she has experience from her time in Constantinople working with kids in the Greek community and as a camp counselor. She's eager to continue sharing her love of Greek language and culture with young learners.
