“Making the decision to have my children attend SMR was the best choice we could have ever made! As a parent of a senior and a freshman, I take solace in knowing that both of my children will be well equipped academically, socially and spiritually when they leave the school. The staff has equipped them with not only knowledge but life skills. In the summer of 2021, my son was one of 20 selectees to attend Bowie State University’s cybersecurity camp. Based upon his teacher recommendations and the grades that he received while attending SMR, he was catapulted as a top candidate for this program. The community, staff and student body at SMR is embracing and family oriented. If families are looking for a welcoming and caring environment, then SMR is their school!”

“Choosing St. Mary’s Ryken High School was the best choice we could have made for our son. Our son has thrived and regained his love of learning through the challenging curriculum coupled with support and encouragement of his teachers. The principal, Dr. Catherine Bowes, is amazing! Her love of children and learning is exemplified through her staff. Dr. Bowes is committed to ensuring the academic success and character development of every student who attends St. Mary’s Ryken. Further, Dr. Bowes and her staff treat each student as a unique individual. Your child is not just a freshman, sophomore, etc. St. Mary’s Ryken High School is truly the best place to send your child to obtain a rigorous academic education in a nurturing Christian environment.”

Sloan Koviak at the University of Dallas “We feel that the daily exposure to the Catholic faith is important for the whole person, and by sending our daughter to St. Mary’s Ryken, the humanities education she received has allowed her to continue the academics she loves at the University of Dallas.”

Caroline Neal, Parent of Sydney ’20

“We are so appreciative of the stellar education Sydney received at SMR! The academic rigor at SMR laid a foundation for Sydney to be successful at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy.”

“Cora’s experience at SMR has been filled with blessings. She has enjoyed the challenge of rigorous academics and has joyfully participated in the fabulous Scholars Program Theatre pathway. She has grown by leaps and bounds as a student, an actor and a singer. Additionally, Cora has had opportunities to be inducted into the National Honor Society and the International Thespian Society, which have assisted in her growth as a student leader. As a member of the Model United Nations club, she engaged in a statewide conference, acting as the delegation for Pakistan on the Social and Humanitarian Committee. Most importantly, SMR has formed Cora spiritually and academically as a Catholic citizen. We are so grateful for all of the wonderful opportunities SMR has provided our daughter!”

“The Getsons are forever grateful for the entire SMR staff, but especially for all the mentorship, guidance and support you all have provided to our sons! We know that our sons would not be where they are today without SMR contributions. Thank you! We love you all!”

Yvette Collins, Current Parent

“St. Mary’s Ryken High School has met or exceeded all of my expectations for my daughter, Sydnie Collins, who is now a junior. The hands-on learning prepares each student for real-life problem-solving. The high level of professionalism from the staff is essential for successful learning experiences. The diversity, inclusion and academic programs foster young scholars who are determined and ambitious to change the world. The accountability extends beyond the classroom. It will show up in all areas of the students’ lives. My daughter is focused, driven and compassionate about building a foundation that will open doors full of possibilities. I owe a big part of her determination to the staff at SMR. The teachers are highly educated, nurturing and thoughtful. My child has grown in a way that she never would have at another school, and I tie this to the rigorous learning style and the warm environment that is presented at SMR. SMR recognizes the importance of instilling solid, character-building, and faith-growing practices, and because of their leadership and strong role models, my daughter can conquer any obstacles that she may face with the tools that she’s been given. If I had to do it all over again, I absolutely would choose St. Mary’s Ryken High School.”
