About St. Mary’s

St. Mary’s is a Catholic college-preparatory school that has been educating students in grades K-12 from more than thirty communities in the greater Boston and North Shore area since 1881. St. Mary’s enrollment reflects the culturally diverse city of Lynn, MA. St. Mary’s is a co-educational school that prepares our students both academically and spiritually for success in the future.

Academic Excellence

St. Mary’s challenges students to explore new learning opportunities in modern classrooms equipped with the latest technology. St. Mary’s curriculum is 35% STEM programming. Our Digital Citizenship incorporates 1:1 laptop learning, required engineering courses for grades 6-9, and numerous other STEM electives. Virtual High School (VHS) opportunities are open to grades 9-12 to offer an extensive list of classes in addition to our in-person offerings.

Advanced Placement (AP) courses include Biology, Chemistry, Calculus, Computer Science, English Composition, English Literature, Spanish, U.S. Government & Politics, U.S. History, World History. Elective courses include classes in subjects such as Anatomy & Physiology, Art, Creative Writing, Engineering, Environmental & Forensic Sciences, Programming, Music, African American Studies, Public Speaking and Marine Biology. Additional AP and Elective courses are available through VHS. The school year is divided into four quarters.

Each class meets for 45 minutes, 5 days a week.

St. Mary’s created three original endorsement programs focusing on three key areas:

• Pre-Law

Endorsement programs provide our students a course of study that prepares them for their preferred college major.

Student Leadership

Students at St. Mary’s have many opportunities to be involved in leadership roles, to help mentor other students and act as leaders and representatives of our school. These include Student Council, Class Officers, Scholars Program, Student Ambassadors, Athletic Team Captains and Club Leaders.

Athletics

St. Mary’s students are actively involved in Athletics, with almost 70% of students participating in sports. St. Mary’s is proud of our student-athletes with 89% of National Honor Society members participating in athletics. St. Mary’s fields teams in 21 sports that compete in the Catholic Central League. St. Mary’s has championship athletics with 22 state titles and at least one state championship in the last 15 consecutive school years. St. Mary’s recently added crew, women’s flag football, field hockey and rugby to the athletic program.

Community Service

St. Mary’s students participate in a wide variety of service activities coordinated by the Campus Ministry Department, Rachel’s Challenge, National Honor Society, and the Scholars Program. Our students participate in over 1,000 hours of service work each year.
