Edmund Rice Day was held on Friday 19th May 2023. Blessed Edmund Ignatius Rice was a Roman Catholic missionary and educator. He was the founder of Christian Brothers schools across the world.

The annual day of celebration was full of fun activities, delicious food and a whole College Mass.

Students and staff raised a total of $9,312.20 for Caritas Project Compassion and the Waterford Fund, helping those who are disadvantaged in our community.

At St Mary’s College, we are inspired by Blessed Edmund, and strive to educate in his vision every day.

Giving Back

At the end of Term 2, St Mary’s College students and staff dropped off a donation of warm winter clothing and nonperishable food items to Vinnies QLD.

Thank you to all families who helped gather these items for people in need in our community.

In the Community

In Term 1, Year 12 students studying Religion and Ethics participated in a number of activities as part of the Religious Citizenship Exploration unit. They visited Sychar House of Prayer and Spirituality for a guided mediation session and participated in a group Tai Chi session in Laurel Bank Park.

Global Connections

Edmund Rice Education Beyond Borders (EREBB) is an international network of Catholic schools educating young people from many different faiths and cultures. EREBB is inspired by the teachings of Jesus, Gospel values and the spirit of Edmund Rice. In over 25 countries they endeavour to promote global solidarity and offer a transformational education for justice and liberation.

St Mary’s College now has a formal partnership with St John’s College in Cape Town as part of EREBB. St John’s is a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition from South Africa! We look forward to developing this partnership and the opportunities ahead for students and staff.
