Our Furry Friend

Mid-way through last year, the Enhanced Learning Department welcomed a very furry staff member, Winston - the College support dog.

Winston spends his days at school socialising with students in the Hub and classrooms, sidling up to students who he senses are feeling a little unsettled or anxious and seeking out the best snack and nap spots.

Winston has become quite a celebrity around the college but always makes time for his many St Mary’s College fans, who love spending time with him.

Celebrating Success

Congratulations to Year 11 student, Ethan Payne who has been recently selected as the Queensland representative for the National Student Voice.

At the College, Ethan has been elected as the Premier of the Student Voice Council. As Premier, Ethan encourages a range of students from different year levels and cultural backgrounds to join and share their ideas.

Ethan is also a proud member of the Toowoomba Regional Council’s Youth Leaders, which he joined in September 2022. The Toowoomba Regional Council Youth Leaders role is to listen to community concerns and think of actionable solutions to address these concerns. A recent focus for Ethan and another Youth Leader is to bring a neurosurgeon to Toowoomba.

Ethan is committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for students at St Mary’s College. Well done!

Primary Movie Night

In Term 2, St Mary’s College held a movie night for all Year 4, 5 and 6 students attending Toowoomba Catholic Schools. New students attending St Mary’s College in 2024 were also invited.

The boys enjoyed a fun evening watching the movie Sing, eating popcorn from the cinema and getting to know one another.

We look forward to holding this event again in the future!
