A note from Mr Webster…
‘What have you done in school today?’ Week ending 9th March 2018
Dear Parents, What an amazing week we have had. International Women’s Day, snow, rugby tournaments, girls’ football matches, RNLI assembly, netball matches, visiting the Philharmonic and then performing there… and all of this on top of the day to day life of a primary school. I am often asked by prospective parents. “What sets you apart from other schools?” I believe that the true measure of a person is the resilience they can display when things are not easy. I have to say that I see it in bucket loads on a daily basis from our youngest pupils to the oldest. We look to give the pupils the chance to succeed and to fail as often as possible. It is lovely to see how the children keep going day in, day out no matter what is thrown their way. Some people describe education as a long distance race, and not a sprint. I would go one further and say it is actually like fell running! It is up and down, rugged terrain, multitude of tough conditions and yet you have to keep going to get to the finish. If you simply give up running you’re stuck in the middle of nowhere with not much going for you. I loved seeing the children in school during the snow this week, it is those times that will last long in the memory and I am sure that many of you have made memories with the children sledging or making snow… people (21st century after all!) I do hope to see as many of you as can at the Philharmonic this evening. Even if your child is not performing, it is a tremendous opportunity to see exactly what the children in this school are capable of when they have that resilience and wonderful attitude to whatever is thrown their way. Have a lovely weekend. Mr J Webster, Headmaster
