‌As we write, the crunch and whine of big machinery hums steadily outside, making the basement level of what will be a three-story Science Wing an exciting reality. Thanks to a small group of generous Momentum Campaign donors, the facility will open in September 2014 and house a program that literally bursts from its current physical boundaries. Already, the Science Department has built a robust curricular and co-curricular program, focused on a culture of inquiry, experimentation, and hands-on work. Interest in the STEM Diploma has exploded in the last two years, and team-based contests such as the Rube Goldberg Competition in the Upper School and the new Flight Day Competition in the Middle School reflect the burgeoning creative and collaborative ethos in the Sciences‌
