Dear SLCSAlumni,
Warm wishes from your alma mater! I pray that this communication finds you and your family healthy, safe and successful in 2025. We remain blessed as a school community and continue to keep you in our daily prayers. This past year has been marked with sadness over the passing of our beloved Fr. Drew. His theme, “Hold Us In Your Mercy”, has been very meaningful and special, as it reminds us that we are always loved and recipients of God’s mercy, whether we deserve it or not. This theme has been a comfort to us, especially through the tough times. Fr. Drew’s legacy will be his enduring love for his parish and our school. As a
product and strong supporter of Catholic education, we are committed to honoring him by continuing our mission of educating our students in body, mind, and spirit.
We welcomed a few new faces to our staff this past fall and were thrilled to welcome back some familiar faces as well. Some of you may remember Ms. Dahse, when she was here as anArt teacher, and Mrs. McMenemy, who taught elementary and kindergarten. What a blessing to have these ladies rejoin our amazing staff. As you peruse the following pages, you may also note that we have quite a few legacy students, courtesy of your fellow alum. I will take that as the best indication we are making a difference and maintaining our reputation as an excellent Catholic school.
Thank you so much for keeping in touch with us. Please be sure to let us know of any special events happening in your life! You are always a “Saint” and we really enjoy hearing from you. Not only is it nice to stay in touch, but it helps us learn and grow as we discern how best to serve our current and future students. You are welcome to visit and catch up with us anytime. Thank you for staying connected and please consider joining us for theAnnualAlumni Mass on May 23, 2025, where we can catch up with you in person.
You are always in our prayers and we hope you never forget “Once a Saint,Always a Saint!”
God bless,
Principal

Advisory School Council President
Dear SLCSAlumni,
It’s been my pleasure serving as the President of the Advisory School Council for the 2024-2025 school year. I would like to share some highlights with you, as well as some of the ups and downs that our SLCS community experienced this school year.
I am thrilled that SLCS has been chosen as Living Magazine's Readers Choice Award for Best Private School in Fort Bend County for the 6th year in a row! This is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our incredible students, faculty, parents, and supportive community, including our cherished alumni who have contributed so much to our school over the years.
As our school is now 30+ years old, we have also completed many renovation projects throughout the main building of the school. A few of these major projects completed were: six restrooms renovated in the main building, roof replacement, one new air conditioning unit, new basketball goals, and upgrades to the courtyard.

Our 2025Auction & Gala will be held onApril 26, 2025, at our very own St. Laurence Catholic School. This will be a prom-themed event titled, “An Evening under the Stars.” We would love to see you in attendance, and if you haven’t been to the school in a while, this would be a great time to see all the wonderful enhancements and upgrades that have taken place over the years.
As many of you know, we had to say goodbye to our dear Pastor, Fr. Drew Wood, who passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024. While this was a very sad time for our entire SLCS & Parish community, we are so grateful for all the time and memories we shared with Fr. Drew. He had such an impact on our school, all the students, faculty, and alumni over the years since 2002. He will be truly missed.
In December 2024, we celebrated the Installation of our new Pastor, Fr. Reginald Samuels. We are so grateful to have Fr. Reginald back at St Laurence Parish and SLCS! We held a Farewell Mass for our beloved Fr. Truong Son Nguyen in January 2025, as he has become the Pastor of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Deer Park. Fr.Truong Son will be missed, but we can still visit him at St. Hyacinth!
For those of you that participated in Steps for Students while at SLCS, you’ll be happy to know it is still taking place, and we celebrated the 20th anniversary of Steps for Students in February!
With over 30 years of excellence educating the whole Christian person in body, mind, and spirit at St. Laurence Catholic School, our students and families continue to be engaged in our parish and our diverse local communities. Our fundraising efforts continue to set new records with our Saints &AngelsAnnual Fund, as well as our Endowment for FinancialAssistance, which continues to provide support to families at SLCS. ST. LAURENCE RECEIVES $125,000 IN GRANTS TO SUPPORT SPICE
St. Laurence Catholic School's commitment to inclusive education reached new heights this academic year through awards totaling $125,000 in grant funding. The grants, which supported the school's Special People in Catholic Education (SPICE) Program, come from the John G. and Stella Marie Kenedy Memorial Foundation, local Knights of Columbus, and several other generous grant funders who wish to remain anonymous.
"These grants represent a tremendous vote of confidence in our SPICE Program and its mission to serve all of God's children," says Jessica Bardin, Director ofAdvancement for St. Laurence Catholic School. "With this funding, we can continue to expand our ability to provide Catholic education to students with diverse learning needs."
The SPICE Program exemplifies SLCS’s dedication to ensuring that Catholic education is accessible to all students, regardless of their learning differences. This program provides specialized support and resources to help all students thrive in a traditional classroom setting.
The annual cost to operate the SPICE Program is approximately $350,000, which covers essential expenses such as specialized teacher salaries and educational supplies. Currently, families of SPICE students contribute additional tuition to help support the program, with the school absorbing a significant portion of the remaining costs. These newly awarded grants will help bridge this funding gap and move the school closer to its ultimate goal: making the SPICE Program accessible to all families regardless of their financial situation.
The John G. and Stella Marie Kenedy Memorial Foundation, known for its commitment to Catholic education in Texas, and the Knights of Columbus, with their longstanding dedication to charitable causes, have demonstrated through these grants their shared belief in the importance of inclusive Catholic education.
As St. Laurence Catholic School rounds out the 2024-2025 school year, these grants mark a significant step toward ensuring that the SPICE Program continues to grow and serve as a model for inclusive education in Catholic schools across the nation.

RUTH RIHA MIDDLE SCHOOL
ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
I am thrilled to serve as your Middle School Assistant Principal! It is a true honor to serve the Lord, our parish, students, staff, and families. We are having an amazing year full of joy and learning.
My husband of 14 years, Chris, and my 11-year-old son, Seth, mean everything to me. I love being a wife and mother. Besides cherishing these roles, I have proudly served as an elementary school principal for the last 20 years in local public schools. After a series of enlightening life events in which God showed me and my family repeated grace and blessings, I was inspired to apply to serve at St. Laurence Catholic School. I made this move of faith to work in a role closer to God and to serve my parish community which has always been so supportive. SLCS is a special place, and I thank God that I am here with you all. While I am "new" to middle school, I know that I will work diligently and will be able to support our students and staff to reach all of their spiritual and academic goals!
I love spending time with my family, preparing home cooked meals, taking walks outside, great music, reading, and gardening. I am a bit of a homebody and can be perfectly content with a cup of coffee and a show to binge watch while taking care of laundry!
I look forward to meeting our Alumni when they visit and pray that you all feel God's love throughout the year.
STANLEY LOPEZ 6TH GRADE MATH/SCIENCE
My name is Stanley Lopez. I am blessed to have joined the St. Laurence family in the 2024-2025 school year. I graduated from Alief Kerr High School and attended the University of St. Thomas (BBA) and the University of Houston Clear Lake (M.Ed and principal certification). I have taught math and science in public schools for 19 years, with the last 6 being in a STEM academy.
The loving and faith-filled environment I have experienced as a parent has drawn me to SLCS. I strive to help students grow in body, mind, and spirit. I am also excited to be with my wife and son at St. Laurence this year. Our son, Gregory, is in 4th grade, and my wife teaches PreK on the ECC campus.
We enjoy being active and outdoors. You can often find us cycling or hiking along the many trails in Fort Bend County. I hope to bring this love of the outdoors and nature into my classroom.
BECKY MCGOLDRICK 7TH AND 8TH GRADE RELIGION
My name is Becky McGoldrick and I am excited to be the new 7th and 8th grade religion teacher at St. Laurence Catholic School! This is my 9th year in education, having taught in both public and private schools, grades 4-10. I took last year off, during which time I volunteered, tutored, became a Master Gardener, and worked at BASC. I quickly found myself missing the classroom and not ready to retire yet! SLCS has a wonderful reputation and I am honored to be part of it. My husband and I have three adult children and have we been parishioners at St. Laurence since 2008. We love traveling and watching the Astros. I also enjoy gardening, Pilates, and a cold Diet Coke! May God hold us in his mercy and bless this year!
TRINA HILL 4TH GRADE TEACHER
I'm so excited to have joined the St. Laurence Catholic School community! Originally from the East Coast, I’ve called the Houston area home for the past 15 years. My husband Todd and I are proud parents to two kids, Ellie (11) and Ford (9), along with our adorable corgi, Theodore. Outside of teaching, I love reading, traveling, and cooking. Teaching ELA/R and writing has always been a passion of mine, and I’m so grateful to have the chance to do it here at such a wonderful school!
7TH AND 8TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
Howdy! My name is Lee Lazarte and I am excited to be teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies at SLCS. I have been an educator for 18 years. My wife, Theresa, and I have two children who attend SLCS. Our son, Grayson, is in 4th grade, and our daughter, Thomlen, is in 2nd grade. As a family, we love watching movies and venturing out to try new restaurants and foods. I love all things sports especially the Aggies, basketball, tennis, and baseball. Outside of the classroom, I spend every spring and fall season coaching little league baseball for both kids’ teams. Through baseball, I’ve coached and have gotten to know many of the SLCS students and their families, all of whom have made an impact on my journey and decision to teach here. I am looking forward to serving our St. Laurence community through upholding the trinity of parent, child, and educator.

RITA TOMMASI KINDERGARTEN ASSISTANT
My name is Rita B. Tommasi. I am originally from Rome, Italy, but I have been living in Sugar Land for fourteen years. Before Texas, I lived in the UnitedArab Emirates for twelve years, and before that, I was in Sri Lanka. I moved to Texas with my family and have been a parishioner since 2010. We live very close to St. Laurence and in fact, rain or shine, I walk to school every day; I love it! Something about walking through those beautiful oak trees makes me smile and gives me peace. One of my goals is to be able to share my love of nature with my students.
MELISSA ALVAREZ SCHOOL NURSE
My name is Melissa Alvarez and I am excited to be one of the nurses at SLCS. I received my nursing degree from The University of Texas at Austin. My nursing background was in ICU/Critical Care before I took time off to raise my family. During that time, I volunteered, was active in church ministries, and even substituted as a school nurse in FBISD.
My family and I have been parishioners at St. Laurence since 2001. We love this parish community, and it has brought many blessings to our lives. My husband and I have been married for 29 years and have three grown children Mateo (26), Mia (24), and Ethan (22). We are embracing this new stage in our lives as official "empty nesters.” We even welcomed a new daughter-in-law this past September and look forward to what the future will bring.
When not working, I enjoy exercising, reading, visiting family, and traveling. So far, I have met many amazing students, parents, and staff members. I am so blessed and grateful to know and care for these students and be part of such an amazing school community!
May God continue to bless you and your families with love, mercy, grace, and good health!
3RD GRADE TEACHER
I am thrilled to be returning home to SLCS after 22 years in FBISD! My husband and I were one of the founding families at St. Laurence Catholic Church, and we have loved raising our family here. I taught at SLCS from 1995-2001, and my daughters went here as well (Lori '97 and Cari '00). Two of our grandsons are at SLCS now (Jack and Tommy), so this school really is like a family for us. In addition to teaching, I love spending time with our six grandchildren, reading, and traveling. Last summer, my husband and I had an adventure throughYellowstone and the GrandTetons. I am excited to be a part of this wonderful community again!
MIDDLE SCHOOL ART TEACHER
My name is Carol Dahse. I have been working as an artist and art teacher for over 20 years. I am thrilled to return to St. Laurence as a member of theArt Department. I originally joined the St. Laurence staff just five years after the school was founded. At that time, SLCS did not have a Middle School art program. I was given an exciting opportunity to join the staff and develop a Middle School art curriculum. I have great memories of my years working with many talented students during that time.
In my years since then, I have taught art at many area Catholic schools. I joined the staff at St.Thomas High School, where I was appointed Dean of the Fine Arts Department. My most recent position was working as a teacher in the art department at St.AgnesAcademy. I have been fortunate to spend the last several years teaching and studying art in many different countries.Traveling and creating art have always been my passions.
Last year, I relocated back to Texas from Florida to spend time with my daughter’s family and my young grandson. These days, you can find me at the theater, painting in my studio, or working in the beautiful art room here at SLCS. I am enjoying reconnecting with old friends and colleagues, and meeting new students and families.

My name is Kelly Kleczynski Tijerina ’01. I was in the first SLCS Kindergarten class in 1992, and graduated from 8th grade in 2001. CAROL DAHSE
Advancement Manager
In my position as the Advancement Manager here at St. Laurence Catholic School, I have the unique pleasure of being an alumna, current parent, and employee of SLCS.
When I reflect on my time here as a student, I think of the beautiful foundation of faith that was gently and lovingly poured for me to rest and build upon. Since I graduated from St. Laurence, St. Agnes Academy, and the University of St. Thomas, I joke that I have been in Catholic School my entire life! What a full circle moment to come back to where it all started and continue that streak.
A few fun facts about me: I am an avid reader, a die-hard Astros fan, and my love language is an iced coffee. My husband,Andy, and I have been married for almost 13 years and reside in Needville.
* Can you share some highlights of your journey leading up to your current role?
While I was a stay-at-home mom many years ago, I took a leap of faith and got a job as a weekends-only Event Specialist at a wedding venue. After 5 years, the grueling schedule of weddings and events caught up to me. I then became a freelance Event Consultant for different wedding venues, allowing me to be with my family again on weekends (since I was only handling the upfront planning of events). Then, last spring during Sunday Mass, my mom saw the posting of this position in the parish bulletin and excitedly passed it to me. I trusted that God would again guide me where I needed to be. Being in the same place as my kidsAND doing the thing I love has been the perfect combination for me!
* What inspired you to join ourAdvancement team?
My love for SLCS inspired me!As a child, I didn't appreciate the foundation that was laid for me here.As an adult, I realize that it is the greatest gift I could give my children. Our beautiful faith is woven into all aspects of our time here. Not every Catholic school goes to weekly Mass! To me, that makes our beautiful Friday Mass tradition even more special and is just another reason why my love for this school continues to grow.
* How do you see the role of Advancement contributing to the overall mission and vision of our Catholic school?
Everyone thinks Advancement is just another title for "fundraising." And while that is important, Advancement is so much more than that! Our job is to shine a bright light on the fruits borne of the SLCS mission - educating the whole Christian person in body, mind, and spirit through the trinity of parent, child, and educator. By doing that, we say to our community and beyond, "Look at our school and the wonderful people coming to and from it! Come be a part of it with us!"
Kelly and her husband,Andy, are the parents of Wyatt,Annabelle, Zane, and Bear.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
… is for Chapel AND Church Sacred Spaces for Reflection
At St. Laurence Catholic School, both the church and the Divine Mercy Chapel serve as vital spiritual sanctuaries for students and faculty, providing spaces for growth, comfort, and community. Weekly Mass in the church allows the school community to come together in worship, while the chapel offers a quieter, more intimate setting for personal prayer and reflection. Many classes visit the chapel where they have the opportunity to pray, meditate and find solace.
The church and chapel are central to our school’s spiritual life, hosting special ceremonies such as Mass, Eucharistic adoration, retreats, sacraments, graduations, and seasonal celebrations. These events allow the entire St. Laurence community to deepen their faith together. For many students, the church and the chapel are sanctuaries away from everything and provide a personal space for peace and reflection.
For both students and faculty, the chapel and church are places of spiritual growth and comfort. "The chapel is where I feel closest to God," reflects Mrs. Rebollido, 3rd grade teacher. The shared experiences in these sacred spaces continue to help us grow in faith, fostering a sense of belonging among SLCS and the St. Laurence Parish community.
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
… is for Diversity
Celebrating Our Differences
At SLCS, we deeply value the rich diversity that defines our student body, faculty, and staff. Our school community is strengthened by the wide array of cultures, traditions, and perspectives each individual brings. Everyday, and through events like Heritage Day, students and families are given the opportunity to share their cultural backgrounds, from cultural facts and music to meaningful customs and stories. These celebrations foster a greater appreciation of our differences and create a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere where learning from one another is at the heart of our experience.
One of our students share her thoughts on the impact of diversity: "Being part of a diverse community has opened my eyes to new perspectives. It’s taught me to embrace what makes us different, while understanding how those differences unite us in meaningful ways." Cultural initiatives, like heritage celebrations, not only help

… is for Enrichment PROGRAMS
Beyond the Classroom
Enrichment programs at our school offer students a wide range of opportunities to extend their learning beyond the classroom. Through activities and classes like science clubs, art programs, special guest speakers, field trips, and after-school enrichment, students explore different interests that promote creativity, teamwork, and personal growth.
SarahAlexander, SLCS Class of 2001, Enrichment Specialist
One unique program is the Enrichment Pull-out Program, a small group session held once a week, designed to enhance students’ academic experience. Focusing on cooperative learning, higher-order thinking, problem solving, and creative thinking, the program covers fascinating topics like neuroscience, simple machines, Rube Goldberg machines, designing theme parks (like Disney Imagineers), and using math to create slow-motion videos. “These enrichment opportunities not only challenge students academically but also help them develop essential skills, fostering a well-rounded educational experience that goes beyond the traditional classroom setting,” says Sarah Alexander ‘01, Enrichment Specialist.
In addition to these enrichment programs, field trips play a key role in broadening students’ horizons by providing real-world learning experiences. These trips complement classroom learning and offer students the opportunity to engage with the material in a hands-on way. Together, enrichment activities, after-school enrichment classes, and field trips help students grow academically and personally, offering a well-rounded educational experience that encourages exploration and creativity.

… is for Graduation
A Farewell to Remember
As we reflect on the Class of 2024's graduation last May, we celebrate the incredible journey they've had and the legacy they've left behind. This 28th graduating class showcased perseverance, hard work, and camaraderie, leaving an unforgettable mark on our school community. Their time at school was filled with growth, challenges, and successes, culminating in the pride we all felt as they walked across that stage.
Traditions like the Luau and Candlelight Ceremony made their graduation even more memorable. The Luau, with its vibrant energy and spirit, allowed students to come together in celebration, while the Candlelight Ceremony offered a reflective moment to honor their journey and pass the light of leadership to the 7th graders. As the Class of 2024 steps into the next phase of their lives, these graduates carry with them the memories of their time here and the promise of an exciting future ahead.

… is for Honors
Celebration of Academic Excellence
Behind every Honor Roll student is a story of hard work, determination, and a passion for learning. For many, balancing academics with extracurriculars and personal life can be a daunting task, but these students have found ways to thrive. Many are active members of the National Junior Honor Society or the National Spanish Honor Society, taking on leadership roles, organizing service projects and serving the community while maintaining excellent grades. Others dedicate themselves to the Academic Decathlon Team, where they showcase their academic excellence in a variety of subjects, competing at a high level while still keeping up with their schoolwork.Additionally, students excel in Spelling Bee and Oratorical Competitions, where they not only demonstrate their knowledge but also develop public speaking skills, learning to communicate effectively and confidently. Despite their busy schedules, they consistently prioritize their studies, breaking tasks into manageable steps and staying organized to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Some students, who excel in both academics and athletics, have learned the power of consistency. By dedicating even small amounts of time each day to studying, they ensure they stay on top of assignments without stress. Teachers play an important role, offering guidance and encouragement, especially when balancing multiple commitments. These students remind us that hard work, perseverance, and effective time management are essential to achieving success—showing that with dedication and focus, great things are possible.
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
… is for Innovation
teaching Tomorrow’s Leaders Today
At St. Laurence Catholic School, innovation is at the heart of everything we do. By embracing digital tools, hands-on learning, and creative problem-solving, we are shaping the next generation of leaders. Our teachers are dedicated to staying ahead of educational trends, integrating cutting-edge technologies into the curriculum to enhance learning experiences. From interactive apps and online platforms to virtual labs and collaborative digital projects, students are not just learning facts—they are engaging with technology to deepen their understanding and prepare for the future.
In the classroom, students are encouraged to think outside the box and tackle real-world challenges. One recent lesson this year was the Ozobots Project, conducted during the Enrichment Pull-out Program. Students used coding and creative thinking to program small robots, helping them understand the basics of coding, problem-solving, and teamwork. Similarly, the STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) initiative allows students to experiment with design-thinking approaches, blending creativity with technical skills to solve complex problems.
Middle School students have the opportunity to apply to be part of delivering the morning announcements in the school’s TV Studio. This hands-on experience allows them to gain valuable leadership and media skills through their different production roles, from editing to presenting. In addition, our innovative multi-purpose CEO Lounge offers a dynamic space where leadership and creativity are encouraged, further reinforcing our commitment to equipping students with the skills to lead and flourish. By fostering a culture of innovation, we are ensuring that our students are not only prepared for the future, but are equipped to shape it.

Giving Back with A SAINT’S
Heart
One of the ways we embrace the spirit of giving is through Saints Give Week, a celebration that encourages students, families, and faculty to come together and support our community. During this special week, we highlight the importance of giving back, not just through financial contributions, but through acts of kindness, service, compassion, and prayers. Saints Give Week fosters a sense of gratitude and empathy, teaching our students the value of helping others and making a positive impact on those around them.
The tradition of giving extends beyond Saints Give Week, with our school partnering with various community organizations throughout the year. Through these Community Partnerships, we are able to support our school and strengthen our connection to the larger community. We are also incredibly grateful to the Circle of Saints— families who have answered the call to make a transformational investment into SLCS. Their generous support is such a blessing to our school, helping to ensure that our mission continues to thrive for years to come. Additionally, those who contribute to the Saints & Angels Annual Fund are true joyful givers, whose generosity directly enhances academic excellence, campus improvements, and school mission, making a lasting impact on our students' lives.
Whether through volunteering, donations, or simply spreading kindness, our students and families are joyful givers—actively contributing to a better, more caring world. The power of their generosity continues to strengthen the SLCS community.

MRS. BARTO’S BOOK OF GOOD DEEDS
At SLCS, we strongly believe in celebrating kindness, accomplishments, and the positive impact our students make every day! They eagerly embrace the opportunity to visit the office to record their good deeds and achievements in what we call "Mrs. Barto's Book of Good Deeds."
Within the pages of this special book, students have the privilege to document their acts of kindness, noteworthy achievements, and good deeds that show the shining spirit of our students.
SAINTS IN ACTION AWARD
The Saints in Action Award recognizes our students who have stepped up and served others without expecting anything in return. Congratulations to Giuliana Silvestri! This year, she envisioned starting a welcoming and mentoring committee at SLCS to help new middle school students transition smoothly into their new environment. With Mrs. Chelly's support, Giuliana brought her vision to life. Her dedication earned her the 2025 Saints inActionAward. We hope she proudly wears her new cross and prayer hands pin as a reminder to others that, as St. Theresa of Lisieux demonstrated, “little ways” can make a big difference.
GOOD SAMARITANS
We are proud of our Good Samaritans! The Good Samaritan Award is given out quarterly in grades PreK-8th. Students from each homeroom are chosen as Samaritans based on their outstanding overall conduct, interaction with adults and peers, cooperation, and embodiment of Christian behavior. Good Samaritans celebrate with a special treat with other Good Samaritan friends!

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
is for music
THE rhythm that uplifts our school
At St. Laurence Catholic School, music is more than just an art form; it's a key part of what makes our community vibrant and united. Our music programs, including the band, choir, and music classes, provide students with opportunities to explore their passions and develop new skills. Whether they’re learning an instrument in the band, harmonizing with their peers in the choir, performing on stage in our middle school musical, or experimenting with sound in music class, students use the power of music to express themselves and connect with others.
One of the most exciting aspects of our music program is the special performances that bring the school together. Our winter and spring concerts, the annual talent show, and performances during school assemblies give students the opportunity to shine on stage and share their talent with the entire school. The choir also performs at all school Masses, uplifting the congregation with their beautiful harmonies and creating a spiritual atmosphere. Whether it’s the lively rhythms of the band or the soaring harmonies of the choir each performance is a chance for students to experience the joy of creating something beautiful together.
Beyond the performances and school Masses, music plays a vital role in building school spirit. The energy of a pep rally led by the school band or jazz band, and the choir leading the school’s alma mater, serves as a reminder of the shared sense of pride and unity that music can foster.

Listen: Alma Mater
School spirit is the heart of our community, and it's felt in every cheer, chant, and song that brings us together. Our fight song and alma mater, written by SLCC Music Minister and SLCS Alumni Parent Mary Thompson, are timeless symbols of pride and unity. Whether sung with enthusiasm during a pep rally or quietly reflecting on the bonds of faith and friendship during a school assembly, these songs celebrate the pride we take in our school and community.
Our athletic program plays a key role in fueling school spirit, with our teams showing strength, determination, teamwork, and perseverance both on and off the field. One of the big signs of school spirit is our mascot, Leo the Lion, who loves to pump up the energy level of the students! These traditions, from spirited songs to passionate cheering, create an electric atmosphere that strengthens our bonds and makes our school community truly special.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR
… IS FOR Works of
mercy
God’s Love Through Service
God calls us to love one another, and one of the most meaningful ways we can do this is through Works of Mercy. Acts such as feeding the hungry, comforting the sick, and giving drink to the thirsty are powerful expressions of God’s love for His people.
At SLCS, service is at the heart of everything we do. We focus on developing character, morality, and spirituality in our students. Service projects, unique to each grade level and in partnership with the Social Concerns Ministry of the parish, teach students the importance of helping those in need and supporting both our local and global communities.
Student clubs, including the Leo's Club, National Junior Honor Society, and National Spanish Honor Society, are dedicated to service, providing additional opportunities for students to engage in acts of charity and make a positive impact on those around them.
Through these projects, students learn to connect charity with Catholic values, deepening their awareness of others' needs while developing a lifelong love for service. By performing Works of Mercy, they discover how small acts of kindness can make a significant impact, and experience the joy, peace, and fulfillment that come from serving others in God’s name.

Student leaders are the driving force behind positive change at St. Laurence Catholic School. Through the Student Council, or other leadership roles, student leaders inspire their peers both in and out of the classroom. They exemplify the core values of responsibility, integrity, and teamwork.
Student leaders take initiative by organizing events, advocating for important causes, and supporting their peers. The Student Council is at the heart of this, creating inclusive and engaging activities while listening to their peers, representing their concerns, and collaborating with faculty to foster student involvement. More than just an organization, the Student Council is a platform where students voice their ideas and create lasting traditions that make St. Laurence a special place to learn. We also want to recognize Valeria Alcala '23, who captivated the audience with her beautiful performances singing in both Spanish and French. Thank you to all of you for sharing your gifts with the community and for representing SLCS with such pride!
