ATHLETIC CAMPS St. Laurence Gym Renovation Thank you for choosing St. Laurence summer camps! We are excited to once again over a wide array of academic and athletic camps — there is truly something for everyone.

As St. Laurence continues to thrive, we are constantly upgrading all aspects of the school. To that end, we are happy to announce that our gym floor is being replaced this summer! We will have a brand new, state of the art floor for all current and future Vikings.

While we can’t wait to show you the finished product, the process will take a number of weeks over the summer.

Because of this, our gym will be unavailable for June and most of July. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer grade school basketball and volleyball camps this summer.

However, we will have basketball and volleyball offerings in the spring or the fall to replace the summer camps.

Additionally, if the work goes according to plan, there is a possibility that we will be able to add basketball and volleyball camps at the end of July. We will be sure to keep you updated on all boys and girls basketball and volleyball offerings this spring, summer, and fall.

ATHLETIC CAMPS New!

All sports camp will feature a different type of sporting event each day with no sports background needed to participate. Boys Camp examples include dodgeball, wiffleball and ultimate football. Girls Camp examples include yoga, badminton, volleyball, and dance.

Cost: $50 per session

Join Coach Pete Lotus, his staff, and current and former Viking players for Viking baseball camps. Attendees will learn the skills and fundamentals of the game through the same methods that have produced numerous Catholic League Blue, Regional, Sectional and Super-Sectional Championships and national recognition over the past 15 seasons and 2 state trophies in the past 3 years.

Cost: $60 per session OR $150 for all 3 sessions (For 13U Only) $60 per session OR $100 total for both sesseions (I and II)

Come join coach Jorie Pudil and our dance team and learn the same fundamentals taught to our St. Laurence dance team.

Cost: $60 per session OR $150 for all 3 sessions

July 13th—16th

Football (Co-ed) 8:15—10:15 am

4th—8th Grade

Join Coach Adam Nissen and his staff for this exciting camp for all rising 4th-8th graders. The camp is open to all skill levels and is no pads and non-contact. Campers will improve their football skills in a fun and instructional camp. Coach Adam Nissen led the Vikings to a Prep Bowl Championship in only his first year as head coach.

Injury Prevention for Female Sports (Girls) July 13th—16th

8:30—10:00 am

5th—8th Grade

This camp led by Coach Brad Leshinske is designed specifically for the female athlete. Campers will learn training techniques to help them avoid injury by understanding proper warm up, jump training and agility training.

Lacrosse (Co-ed) June 8th—11th

12:00 —1:30 pm

5th—8th Grade

Come experience the fastest game on two feet! From beginners to experienced players, all campers will enjoy this action-packed camp led by Coach Sopko on the turf field. Attendees should bring their own equipment, but rental equipment will be available.

ATHLETIC CAMPS Soccer (Co-ed) July 6th—9th

Join Coach Boekeloo and his assistants for this co-ed camp. Learn the fundamentals and skills that are used with the high school teams and led to a 4th place finish in state for the boys. All skill levels are welcome. Campers should wear soccer cleats and shin guards.

Join Coach Teagan Walsh, her staff, and players for exciting, skillsbased camps on all aspects of softball. Campers should wear spikes and bring a glove and bat if they have one. The camp will be at the Burbank Fastpitch Field at Macarthur Park on 83rd and State Rd. Cost: $65 per session OR $120 for both sessions for 5th—8th $60 for 1st—4th skills camp

Speed & Agility (Co-ed) June 15th—18th: Session 1 July 6th — 9th: Session II

Coaches Darrell Reed and Brad Leshinske will lead this camp focusing on the basic fundamentals of speed and agility. Session I will be an introduction to techniques and skills that campers will use to increase their strength and their conditioning. Session II will be a combine and campers will be tested for vertical, 40 time, broad jump and more.

Campers will learn the fundamentals of Spikeball and get to compete against each other!

Strength & Conditioning (Co-ed)

June 8th—11th

5th—8th Grade

Join Coach Leshinske for a strength camp that is open to all athletes. Campers will learn the basic strength building movements as well as build up their conditioning level in a fun and interactive way.

Age appropriate techniques will be used and the focus will be on body weight and lightweight exercises that campers will be able to do on their own at home.

Track (Co-ed)

July 13th—16th 12—2 pm 5th—8th Grade Coach Darrell Reed and his staff will develop your skills in the various track and field events — sprints, distance, hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, and discus, using the same methods that produced the school’s first Catholic League and Sectional Championships. Campers will learn the same techniques and training methods that have put St. Laurence track on the map!

Wrestling (Co-ed) June 22nd—25th

Join the Viking coaching staff in the Viking wrestling room. The Vikings sent multiple wrestlers down state this year and continue to grow the program. Come improve your skills and experience firsthand why we continue to have success on the mat!

Analytics/Sabermetrics June 29th—July 2nd

Campers will use the same formulas professional teams use to determine the best and most valuable players in their sport. This fun and innovative camp could be the starting point to a career in your favorite team’s front office!

App—Coding June 8th—11th

This introduction to computer programming will expose students to critical thinking skills, the logic structure used to create apps and computer programs, and basic coding tasks. All students must have either an Apple iPad or Mac. No experience necessary.

Art July 6th—9th

5th—8th Grade

In this summer art camp you will have a space and supplies to create 2-3 final artworks. Materials that we will work with are paint, charcoal, clay, and graphic design apps. You do not need to have prior experience.

Band July 13th—16th

2:15—5 pm

5th—8th Grade

Designed for students with at least one year of experience, the STL band camp gives young music students a chance to reinforce their musical talents. The students will prepare a short concert that focuses on using student versions of classic, popular and film music together to build technical skills and musicality in a fun way.

Drama camp allows students to explore dramatic and theatrical arts in a fun environment. Lead by STL Players director Brian Herman, along with members of the STL Players, the camp incorporates fundamentals of acting, improv, and teamwork through fun games and activities.

eSports July 13th—16th

eSports camp places focus on popular video games such as League of Legends, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and Minecraft. Participants will learn about strategies, game mechanics, teamwork and communication skills while also competing in camp tournaments. Players of all skill levels welcome.

Come learn how to be a leader from the premier leadership program on the Southside! Since leaders are made, not born, this camp will concentrate on the five best practices of a leader, how to use them in a group, and how a leader effectively leads a group.

Join one of the only STEM accredited schools in the country as prospective students learn how to work in STEM groups and work on reallife problems. This interactive group will show campers how current Saint Laurence students learn and interact with each other.
