ITALIAN OVERVIEW TERM 3 2022 TEACHER: SIGNORA MARIA CATALANO Welcome to Term 3 learning for Italian.

This term, the teaching and learning of Italian will include a wide range of listening, speaking, reading, viewing and writing activities. For students the focus will be: RECEPTION

Strand: Communicating and Understanding Sub-Strand: Socialising and Creating Topics: Classroom language, greetings ( saluti-formal/informal) & action related talk and play Recognising and responding to modelled greetings, instructions, and routines through guided play- based activities such as games, modelled role play, rap and songs, using actions and visual cues that will support understanding.

YEAR 1

Strand:Communicating and Understanding Sub-Strand:Socialising, Creating and Informing Topics:All about Me ( Tutto su di me) Sharing information and engaging in conversations about self, family, likes and dislikes using modelled phrases and descriptive sentences. They will also participate in a range of games and activities using modelled language, gestures, words and phrases.

YEAR 2

Strand:Communicating and Understanding Sub-Strand: Socialising, Creating and Informing Topics:All about Me (Tutto su di me) Sharing information and describing about self, family, likes and dislikes using key words, phrases and modelled descriptive sentences. They will also participate in shared, guided, play -based activities and games using modelled language, rehearsed responses, words and phrases. The students will also present information about family or a special celebration using simple modelled sentences.

YEAR 3

Strand:Communicating & Understanding Sub-Strand: Socialising, Creating and Informing Topics: Sustainability (La Sostenibilità) Interacting, sharing personal information and describing the use of natural resources especially those that can have a negative impact on the

environment.The students will engage and participate in cooperative activities with peers that explore ways to reduce our carbon footprint and protect Earth.

They will select, describe and present factual information using simple descriptions and modelled formulaic sentences about sustainability.

YEAR 4

Strand: Communicating & Understanding Sub-Strand: Socialising, Creating and Informing Topics: Sustainability (La Sostenibilità) Interacting, exchanging personal information and describing the use of natural resources especially those that can have a negative impact on the environment.

The students will engage and participate in collaborative activities with peers that explore ways to reduce our carbon footprint and protect Earth. They will use modelled language to ask and respond to questions or ask and clarify information to generate short simple texts about sustainability.

YEAR 5

Strand: Communicating & Understanding Sub-Strand: Socialising, Creating and Informing Topics: Hobbies- (Passatempi) Initiating, creating and presenting in real simulated activities using modelled, informal language and simple present tense for example, about a favourite hobby/hobbies. The students will share, locate and gather information, to express opinions and preferences of their preferred hobby/hobbies. This will also include engaging in conversations and interactions with peers using informal language to express opinions about personal experiences, people, interests and hobbies in a variety of ways.

YEAR 6

Strand: Communicating & Understanding Sub-Strand: Socialising,Creating and Informing Topics: Hobbies- (Passatempi) Initiating, creating and presenting in real simulated activities using modelled, informal language and simple present tense, for example, about a favourite hobby/hobbies. The students will present, gather, compare notes and view texts about young people’s lifestyles in Italy and Australia. They will use websites, books and magazines to express opinions and ideas in relation to their personal and social experiences of people, interests and hobbies in a variety of ways to suit different purposes.

STEM OVERVIEW TERM 3 2022 TEACHER: NICHOLAS POLVERE Welcome to the Term 3 learning for STEM. This term, the Primary students will be engaging in Robotics.

The Junior Primary & Primary students will be using robots such as Beebots, Botley and Spheros.

Year 6 students will commence programming using Micro:Bit Students will build on their programming skills to follow, describe and represent a RECEPTION sequence of steps and decisions (algorithms) needed to solve simple problems. Students will be programming Bee Bots.

Further developing understanding and skills in computer programming. Students will YEAR 1 extend their knowledge to give and follow directions to familiar locations using a variety of robots.

YEAR 2

Students will be introduced to Sphero robots, where they will have to measure and use those measurements to identify and describe the angle of turn for the Sphero robot.

Students will use the engineering process and develop their own Sphero Maze to program the Sphero to escape.

YEAR 3

Students will consider programming elements and their possible outcomes and recognise variation in results by programming Sphero robots into an interactive game. Students will use their knowledge of the engineering process and develop and program their own ‘Hot Potato’ game.

Further developing understanding and skills in computational thinking. Student will extend their knowledge of block programming into Sphero robotics. Students will have to convert units of measurement to communicate a message using a combination of long flashes/beeps and short flashes/beeps. Students will learn the theories behind ‘If/then’ and ‘Functions’ to organise complex logic.

Students will design, modify and follow simple algorithms involving sequences of steps, branching, and iteration (repetition). They will use the engineering process to develop and program their own ‘Simon Says’ game using the Sphero robots. Students will use Movement, Light, Sound and Function block codes.

Students will process data and demonstrate how micro:bit computers can securely access data and use multiple digital systems to transmit data. Students will use the micro:bit and create an Emotion badge to inform the world how you’re feeling.

The STEM ‘Make a Difference’ students will be showcasing their STEM MAD projects and videos at the Adelaide Convention Centre, 12th August 2022.
