St. John’s students are exceptional. St. John’s School, in the Episcopal tradition, supports students pursuing excellence through a college preparatory program promoting transformative principles of faith, integrity, active learning, service, and global consciousness. A rigorous education program provides students with strong basic knowledge, instills strong study habits, as well as provides athletic and fine arts opportunities. Values of service and social responsibility are pervasive throughout a student’s experience. Respect and appreciation for each individual’s faith and culture defines our purpose.

St. John’s School is affiliated with the Episocopal Church in Micronesia Like all Episcopal schools, we seek to educate a diverse population, to invite all who attend, whatever their faith, to seek clarity about their beliefs and to honor the traditions that they learn at home. We teach respect for the worth and beauty of all human beings. We seek to develop individuals who will build lives of geniuine meaning, purpose, and service in the work they will inherit.

Our students regularly participate in National History Day, international science fairs such as the International Young Scientists Innovation Exhibition, Asian Pacific Conference of Young Scientists, Japan Super Science Fair, and other academic programs as well. Beyond academics, our students excel in sports, dramatic arts, visual arts, and music. Our students have represented the school and the island of Guam in international sports competitions, have performed at Disneyland Hong Kong, Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House and more.

The variety of resources to build knowledge upon, provided by our school community, is yet another aspect of why I love being a student at St. John’s School. -SJS Student, Class of 2020

the Lower School Primary (PK3 to 2nd grade) St. John’s School believes that the primary years of a child’s social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual development are crucial in establishing good character, a passion for learning, and a strong academic foundation. Our Lower School division fosters an environment that inspires academic excellence and leadership, promotes innovation and ingenuity, and develops Christian values and character.

Intermediate (3rd grade to 5th grade) St. John’s School’s intermediate department provides students in grades three to five continued personal and academic growth by offering a low student to teacher ratio, departmentalized teaching, and myriad extracurricular classes.

the Uniqueness of St. John’s School ...is that one may begin as a small child and literally grow up here. Other students join classmates along the way, some for just a year or two while they live on Guam, some to become part of the future graduating class. The bonds of friendship grow strong, and a sense of belonging is nurtured. St. John’s is, at every level, a college preparatory school. We know our students are going to grow and learn and one day enroll in a college that is perfect for them.

Our excellent faculty, small class sizes, close knit community and rigorous curriculum are credited for St. John’s students scoring well above average on national standardized exams; having outstanding character; winning island-wide, regional and national awards; and being accepted to the finest national and international colleges and universities upon graduation.

Students learn self-discipline and expand their skills in the specialized areas of art, athletics, language, music, drama, and technology. Our curriculum is planned to articulate smoothly from Pre-K to Upper School.

the Middle School The Middle School years bridge the basic skill foundation of Lower School and the rigorous curriculum of Upper School. There is an emphasis on building character and nurturing individual confidence. Students learn within a supportive interpersonal structure which they are accustomed to from their elementary years, but with the teacher subject specialization inherent in high school. The curriculum is delivered with attention to the developmental stage of the middle years and conducted in an environment where exploration and learning are activity-based. Students look into special interests, such as foreign language, band, orchestra, community service, co-curricular activities, and interscholastic sports such as soccer, volleyball, basketball, and cross-country.

After School Program The After School Program (ASP) provides a safe, fun, and exciting environment for ALL students. It allows for opportunities that boost academic performance, but also ignites and develops students passions in the Arts and Sports. Students will enjoy the range of course offerings while parents enjoy the convenience of having these programs located on campus.

the Upper School The Upper School helps students to prepare for success at their universities through the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) programs. Colleges and universities around the world recognize the rigor of these classes and, in some cases, offer college credit for classes. These classes begin in earnest in the 11th grade, but the curricula in the 9th and 10th grades have been designed to align with and prepare students for the demands of these rigorous classes. Our Upper School students become reasoned thinkers and accomplished writers. They excel in math and impress us with their musical, artistic and athletic talents. Each student completes one hundred hours of community service before graduation. We offer a broad range of courses and activities to develop individual student talents and special interests.

International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is a comprehensive and fully developed curriculum with an international focus. Students in 11th and 12th grades can take a rigorous set of courses designed to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Highly motivated, self-disciplined, and committed students who have the academic potential to complete a challenging course are encouraged to participate in the program. The Diploma Programme includes coursework in languages, math, science, social sciences, and the arts. The Advanced Placement (AP) program is also designed to deliver college level course work to high school students. This will enable them to understand and prepare for the rigor of university level work. Students can take AP courses in math, modern languages, science, and social science.

Summer Knights The Summer Knights Program welcomes incoming students in Pre K3 - 12th grade. There are 4 different camps, Kinder, Lower School, Middle and Upper School Camp and an English Academy. The camps offer students an environment that embraces a unique balance of academic challenges, creative activities, and social interaction, while interweaving Guam’s culture and history.
