Our goal for this year’s GIFT Faithfully yours in Christ, campaign is twofold. First, that The Rev’d Canon Ed Monk all of us would increase our giving. Do you tithe (10%)?

Consider giving 11% this year! Do you give 1% of your income now?

Consider giving 2% for 2024!

Continued expansion in our outreach effort, and especially through social media and personal contact.

Increasing our Sunday attendance by committing to be present.

Increasing our numbers by committing to invite others.

LET’S PRAY TOGETHER DURING OCTOBER Lord, you have prepared an abundant harvest for St. John’s, so that we may bring your Name glory and accomplish your mission. Make us all generous stewards of your gifts, and show me how you are calling me to serve and bless others by what you’ve given me; through the providence of the Father, the grace of the Son, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

MORE THAN MONEY “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

Christian stewardship is a about more than money. You may notice that St. Paul doesn’t even say “money” is this chapter. Rather, he talks about the return of what is sown in faith.

Giving of your time A 21st century problem, exacerbated by the COVID pandemic, is faithful church attendance.

Giving of your talent We’ve all heard the adage time, talent, and treasure when stewardship time rolls around.

As we have seen in our own congregation, people have grown accustomed to staying home on Sunday. Whether it is “Sunday Funday” with the family, or a little extra sleep before brunch, it is easy not to be at Saint John’s (or any church) on Sunday.

Of course, many of us are convinced that treasure is all the church is really wants.

As Christians we are called to worship in community, and our community is stronger when we are all together.

In 2024, will you pledge to try to be with us for 40 Sundays?

Nothing should be further from the truth, but sometimes is. How do we remedy that?

Do you have a talent or passion that you wouldn’t mind sharing with Saint John’s? Do you have an hour or two a week that you would be willing to give to the service of your parish?

In 2024, will you pledge to use some of your talent for the spread of the Kingdom at St John’s?

What do we need to do next?

As we prayerfully prepare ourselves to think about our commitment to God, there are three things we need to do: 1. Use the QR code on page 2, or go to this link https://rb.gy/bfml4, and make a financial pledge. We need 100% participation from all members.

2. Prayerfully consider how often you will try to be in Church on Sundays. On Nov. 5, we will make a pledge to God about how often we will be in Church.

3. Prayerfully consider how you might use your talents for the spread of the kingdom.

OUR NEEDS FOR 2024 “Yet ye have not, because ye ask not.” James 4:2

Operating Income Like everyone in America, both individuals and corporations, the Saint John’s is buffeted by changes in life. Whether it is the death of beloved members, demographic changes, or even inflation and the rising costs of goods and services, our ability to operate in an efficient manner is subject to many forces.

For many years, we have been blessed, and we will continue to be blessed. In order to keep up in this economy, we need to ask everyone to pitch in and help us.

Our estimate-of-giving goal for 2024 is: $175,000. This WILL require some sacrificial giving from all of us, and 100% participation. Please be praying about what God wishes for you to give.

Special Gifts We have been blessed over the years not to have to ask for many “special” gifts. This year, we need to do a little catch-up on some deferred items. Any or all of these would make a special memorial to a loved one. Our special gifts goal for 2024 is $75,000.

1. Columbarium Expansion: After much work and prayer, we are ready to begin the expansion of our columbarium. Advance funding is needed in order to build the cabinet and order the brass plates.

2. New outdoor signs: We ready to begin a project to place five new outdoor signs around our property so that people will know who we are. Visibility is crucial as we seek to invite more people to join us.

3. We need to purchase new green and white vestments for the parish. These are the “workhorse” vestments in our closet and are used 41 of the 52 Sundays of the year. At 25 and 20 years old, they are in need to replacement.
