Rector's Note
Magazines, according to Wikipedia, are publications, usually periodical publications, that are printed or published electronically The online versions are called online magazines. They are generally published on a regular schedule and contain a variety of content.
With the launch of this new quarterly magazine, we hope to provide a plkace where we can share stories of interest, items of note to the parish family, but above all something you can share with those whom you want to invite to our church.

This new venture is titled "Ecce!" because of the Latin imperative in John 1:29, - our parish Scripture verse. The word means: "Behold!" Some will recall that for many years we called our newsletter the Narrator, and it was a good title.

Now, our task is to get our community to "behold" - not just Saint John's, but God in our midst!

The UIAA or Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme is the world governing body in mountaineering and climbing, addressing issues like access, medical, mountain protection, safety, youth and ice climbing.

FIRST CLIMBS
Historically, many cultures have harbored a number of superstitions about mountains, which they often regarded as sacred due to their proximity with heaven, such as Mount Olympus for the Ancient Greeks. By the early 19th century many of the alpine
peaks were reached; the Grossglockner in 1800, the Ortler in 1804, the Jungfrau in 1811, the Finsteraarhorn in 1812, and the Breithorn in 1813.
One of the most dramatic events was the spectacular first ascent of the Matterhorn in 1865, by a party led by the English illustrator, Edward Whymper - four of the party members fell to their deaths. This ascent is generally regarded as marking the end of the mountaineering golden age. By this point the sport of mountaineering had largely reached its modern form, with a body of professional guides, equipment and fixed guidelines

Summer is a time of rest and refreshment, and with that in mind, Saint John's changes gears for the season to offer lighter, yet spiritual fare for the parish.
We are proud to offer top quality, but lower intensity programs for our summer series We have three main offerings this summer:
1) We have two parish movie nights for the remainder of the summer. In July 12, we will watch Amadeus, and on August 16, we will watch Becket Both start at 6 pm and dinner is provided

2) We have amonthly men's fellowship in the summer, with the first, but rain-delayed, meeting happening June 28 at 7 pm at Tom Adams'. No program - no pressure - just enjoying one another's company.

3) The summer women's study, facilitated by Liz Kingman is the Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer the daughter of Dallas-based evangelist Tony Evans.

The series looks at "The Armor of God", which is more than merely a biblical description of the believer's inventory, is an action plan for putting it on and developing a personalized strategy to secure victory
Class meets on Wednesday at 7 in the Parish Hall.
