Easter!

Greetings as we enter the Lenten season. Our choirs have been busy preparing music for the coming month. The Handbell Choir will perform on Sunday, March 19th. On Sunday, March 26th the Adult Choir will be performing the hit song “You Say” made famous by contemporary Christian artist Lauren Daigle. We will be accompanied by Riley Clark on guitar. A big thank you goes out to Peggy and Dale Jorgensen for making their annual Valentine cupcakes for the choir. They were delicious! If you are looking for a fun way to make a joyful noise to the Lord, it’s not too late in the season to join our Adult Choir. We will begin practicing our Holy Week selections in March. There are no auditions or solos (that is, unless you want one!). All are welcome!

March Mission Globe

Our mission globe gifts for March will go to Lutheran Disaster Response:Middle East Crisis. Lutheran Disaster Response Gifts to the Middle East Crisis will be used in full (100%) to assist those affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. You are encouraged to contribute, above and beyond your regular giving, in the globe at the back of the sanctuary. Please make checks payable to St. John Special Funds. Thank you. All gifts will be sent to the ELCA Gifts Processing Center for distribution. NOT

Dear friends at St. John American Lutheran, thank you for your generous monthly donation of $130 to The Community Outreach! Through your donations, you have helped families move in to or stay in their housing; keep their water, gas and electricity on; and get to and from work. We are thankful for the opportunity to serve our community with you.

Dear St. John members, “Comfort O Comfort my People” says your God. Isaiah 40:1 Each of you St. John members certainly do your part in following that Bible verse! The Carol Okrina family can attest to that! Your past and continuing actions have fulfilled that command for us. Thank you! God’s blessings to all!

THE CHURCH GARDEN CONTINUES???

As I write this, the meteorologists are preparing us for another blast of winter…just when I’m getting the itch to dig in the dirt! Growing up in & living in SD most of my life (with a brief detour in ND), I shouldn’t be surprised, and yet, I am. However, we are all eternal optimists, so we forge ahead, buy seeds, and plot out our gardens.

I imagine many of you are doing the same. And before we can put seeds in the ground, the prep work must be done. For our St. John garden to continue, this includes enlisting your help.

Some of us are available for startup tilling, fencing, etc. Nancy Plienis and Linda Kolb have signed on as they did last year, but they need to have a couple more people commit to regular time in the garden planting, watering, weeding, harvesting.

So, this is a call for help to “grow” the St. John tradition of feeding people. Please get in touch with Nancy, Linda, or me, or call the church office for more information. Thanks for considering doing “God’s work” with “our hands”!
