Hill offers 15 Advanced Placement courses across 5 different disciplines to ensure that students have access to rigorous, college-level coursework.
Our AP for All Program ensures that all students have the opportunity to take a minimum of four AP courses over their four years at Hill. This program reflects our commitment to equity and academic excellence, opening opportunities for all learners, regardless of background, to challenge themselves, develop critical thinking skills, and prepare for success in higher education and beyond.
Hill is the only Catholic High School in Staten Island offering the AP Capstone Program and the only high school in Staten Island offering it to every student.
AP Capstone consists of AP Seminar and AP Research courses. It is an interdisciplinary program that equips students with essential skills in research, analysis, evidence-based arguments, collaborating, writing, and public speaking. It will also greatly help students to stand out to colleges.

At Hill, we recognize the arts enriches an education, providing students with creative outlets that build confidence, collaboration, problem-solving skills, and perseverance. Through artistic expression, students develop powerful communication and performance skills that serve them throughout their lives.
Every Hilltopper completes the Fine Art I and Music courses. We also offer electives in Performing Arts, AP 2-D Art & Design, and AP 3-D Art & Design.
Beyond our curriculum (see Programs of Study), students can join Hill Singers, the Dance Team, Photography Club, and the Art Club. The SJHA Drama Club produces an annual musical that competes in The Minty Awards, Staten Island's prestigious theater competition honoring Catholic high school theater departments.
The school year culminates with our Spring Performing and Visual Arts Showcase, celebrating all of our student artists.

In an era when private universities may cost up to $99,000 per year, Hill's fouryear program delivers extraordinary value for families. Many Hill graduates save a year or more in college tuition costs by earning AP and college credits during their four-year program, further maximizing the value of their Hill education.
Under the expert guidance of Mrs. Kerry Sullivan, HS '81, Director of College Counseling, and Mrs. Michelle Nastacio Figuly '07, Associate Director of College Counseling, Hill has established itself as a premier New York City high school. College guidance begins freshman year and becomes a dedicated class for juniors and seniors. Students and parents receive personalized meetings to develop individualized plans for college and career success. This includes specialized support for talent-based portfolios and athletic recruitment across all NCAA divisions.
The Class of 2025 exemplifies Hill's success: accepted to 183 universities nationwide, with fourteen students entering accelerated master's and doctorate programs, sixteen joining Honors programs, and eleven receiving full-tuition scholarships. These accomplished graduates collectively earned over $34.2 million in academic merit scholarships. This is a clear demonstration of the exceptional return families receive from their investment in a Hill education.
Leadership development is woven into every aspect of Hill life, with students occupying all key positions from Student Council to club presidencies, giving you experiences that build confidence and real-world skills.
Our dynamic student life offers nearly 50 clubs spanning every interest—from Hill TV’s morning broadcasts to Girls Who Code, Mock Trial, cultural heritage clubs, and unique offerings like Baking Club and Yoga Club.
For over a century, St. Joseph Hill Academy has created cherished traditions that unite generations of Hilltoppers, from Senior Sunrise and the symbolic Tree Planting ceremony to beloved celebrations like Freshman Tea, the creative Green Fashion Show, spirited Color Wars, and vibrant Student Council events like Murder Mystery Night and Christmas Coffeehouse.

These customs build lasting bonds of joy and pride that extend far beyond graduation.

At Hill, we believe powerful learning can happen beyond the classroom. With our proximity to New York City and network of accomplished alumnae, we open doors that transform classroom knowledge into real-world understanding. We're committed to exposing students to diverse experiences that develop confident young women ready to meet society’s challenges.

The HELM (Hill’s Educational Leadership in Medicine) Institute partners with Staten Island University Hospital for authentic healthcare learning experiences.

Women in Business Institute empowers students to excel in the professional sphere through a dynamic blend of experiential learning, academic rigor, and realworld exposure.

The Legal Education and Advocacy Institute provides students with experiential learning opportunities to gain deeper understanding of the legal profession.

Hill maximizes our location through Culture Day field trips to MoMA, Broadway shows, Ellis Island, and more. Our standout experience is the annual 10-day Spring Break trip to Europe for juniors and seniors, where students explore multiple countries together. In 2026, they will be traveling to England, Scotland, and Ireland, following recent adventures to Spain, France, Italy and Greece.

From athletic teams competing nationally to seniors' traditional Disney World graduation celebration, every student has multiple opportunities to broaden her perspective and discover her potential in the wider world.
At Hill, spirituality and service are at the heart of who we are.

Students of all religious backgrounds are welcome.
Following our Daughters of Divine Charity mission, Hilltoppers make God's love visible through faith, community, and service. Annual retreats help you grow spiritually. Every grade attends offcampus retreats, and juniors and seniors can experience our four-day Kairos retreat program. Kairos is a powerful time away from everyday life that builds community and deepens your relationship with God.

Faith and service shape who you become. Whether planning studentled Masses, bonding with the Sisters at our Convent through Junior Associates, or volunteering in your community, you'll develop purpose and empathy and find joy in making a difference.

You'll give back in meaningful ways. Hill students complete over 27,000 hours of community service annually through clubs like Project Hospitality and Special Olympics, our annual allschool Service Day, and service trips with Habitat for Humanity.

The impact of a St. Joseph Hill Academy education extends far beyond graduation. Our alumnae join a distinguished legacy of confident, empowered women who are equipped with strong leadership skills and an enduring passion for learning.
Our students forge deep, lifelong friendships rooted in shared experiences and values. This powerful network of accomplished alumnae continues to inspire and uplift one another long after their days on campus, embodying the lasting value of their Hill education.
Hill connects current students with accomplished alumnae from diverse professional fields in virtual sessions. This innovative program covers a wide range of careers - from medicine and finance to engineering and the artsproviding students with invaluable insights, inspiration, and networking opportunities as they explore their educational and career aspirations, while showcasing the power of the Hill alumnae network in shaping the next generation of ambitious, determined women.
“One of the best things I took away from Hill was the power of female friendship…I have a group of 10 Hilltoppers that I talk to daily…we may be in different industries but we always celebrate each others’ wins and learn from each other. Hill instills ambition…it allowed me to continue to strive to be better, challenge my own limits, and advocate for myself in my career…[because I went to Hill I can consistently] prove that I’m trustworthy and reliable and accomplish any task that’s set for me or that I set for myself.”
