The Going on Growing Bible Group restarted on Wednesday September 25 and continues until the end of November. We shall be studying 'The Prayers of the Bible.' Both the Old and New Testament are full of the most wonderful prayers offered to God by such people as Moses, David, Job, Jonah, Paul and our Lord Himself. They have much to say to us about our life of prayer and our journeying deeper with God. All are welcome, Coffee from 10 for a 10.30 start and an 11.30 finish. If you wish to know more, do speak to Rev’d Stephen.Bowen. THE ST JOHN’S QUIZ NIGHT, Saturday. 19th October, 6.30 for 7 pm in the Hall. A fun night for all. There is a ploughman’s supper, and bring your own drinks and brains. Tickets are £5, with a maximum of 6 in a team. You are welcome to come just for the supper and support the teams. Prizes galore. Tickets are available from the Social Committee – Julie Morton, Lenore Clarke, Iris Ellins, Pat Andrews, Joyce Norrish, Ann Fry and Jenny Bache. Back by popular request! FISH AND CHIPS QUIZ NIGHT, Friday, 1st November, 7 pm in the Lang Memorial Room, Rockwell Green. £10 per person includes Fish and Chips. Please book early as some people were disappointed last time. ST JOHN’S SCHOOL FOUNDATION GOVERNORS St John’s Parish Church and school are working together in partnership with the vision of 'Sharing Joy and Hope in the community’. There are currently two vacancies for Foundation Governors. These are really good opportunities to contribute in a significant way to the running of the school, to promoting the vision and to serve the wider community. You don’t need to be an expert on education or children! Indeed, experience in other areas, such as finance, HR and IT, is also needed. Jane Czerniak and Tim Treanor would be delighted to talk with anyone who is interested. AUCTION OF PROMISES/PUDDING EVENING 25 OCTOBER - Please note that following feedback and consultation from church members and having in mind a busy seasonal schedule, the decision has been taken to POSTPONE this fundraising event. It will be re-scheduled for early in 2020 when there are fewer events on our Church calendar." CHILDREN’S SOCIETY BOXES Could you please bring your boxes to Church so that they can be emptied and counted before the end of October. gifts in St John’s on any Sunday or Thursday morning that would be helpful as far as re-distribution is concerned. WOMEN’S REFUGE. The Refuge continues to need household items in good condition and also toys for the children – role play toys such as those for a toy kitchen and also cars and lorries and dressing up clothes. With Christmas coming, also needed – wrapping paper, cellophane, gift tags, toys, books, games and anything for ladies to make up for all the things they have had to leave behind. Please leave items in marked box at back of Church.
