The St. James Center for Spiritual Formation announces a wonderful speaking series to be presented during the Friday Lenten Gumbo lunches. Six gifted preachers from various religious traditions are scheduled to speak on successive Fridays, in the church, from 12:05 to 12:30 p.m., so attendees may enjoy gumbo then the speaker, or the speaker, then gumbo in Bishops Hall! Fr. John Moloney was husband, father, and a priest in the Episcopal Church. He served as Prior of the St. James Center for Spiritual Formation for a short seven months before losing his battle with cancer in March 2009. Despite his short tenure here, Fr. John touched many lives and to this day is remembered with great fondness. As we gather to celebrate the inaugural year of the Preaching Series, we honor Fr. John, who indeed was a great preacher.

Gumbo 2015 co-chairs Mary Pesses and Kelly Williams invite you to join the fun and fellowship as a Gumbo volunteer! Gumbo 2015 opens on Friday, February 20, and volunteers will be needed each Friday during Lent to help host lunches in Bishops Hall, deliver take-out orders to waiting vehicles, and even support the volunteers! Pre-sale “dipping” and Sunday quart sales could use your help, too. You can view and sign-up directly on the volunteer sheet, here. If you can’t help at church, spread the word about Gumbo where you are! Click here for a downloadable flyer you can print and put on the bulletin board at work, the gym, etc. And, here’s a downloadable to-go menu form, so you’re ready to place your telephone order for walk-in or drive-thru pickup.
