Welcome to our Spring 2015 season Focus on participation Did you know that - in addition to our cinema and theatre programme macrobert offers a wide range of classes for adults, children and young people? You can find details throughout the brochure. These classes provide a chance to enjoy, to learn, to create and to perform. For adults, there are inclusive drama and dance classes (including dance for 60+) as well as film and literature; visual arts and a thriving book group. For children and young people, we run a range of youth theatre groups on a Saturday for ages P1 through to S6. There are also dance groups for P4-P7 and S1 upwards as well as visual arts and our popular film crew.

Since taking up residency they have delivered educational music workshops, participated in our Japan week celebrations and supported a number of concerts and events on campus involving students, staff and the local community.

A striking adaptation of Madame Butterfly, exploring themes of love, disappointment, loss and hope, created by Ramesh Meyyappan (Snails & Ketchup), with outstanding puppetry by Gavin Glover (National Theatre of Scotland’s Tin Forest / A Christmas Carol and music by David Paul Jones. Performed by Meyyappan, Martin McCormick and Ashley Smith. This modern multi-disciplinary piece uses visually poetic narrative and movement, and beautiful, handcrafted puppets to tell the tale of Butterfly, a female kitemaker, whose life has been shattered following the departure of her lover. Ballet West is proud to present Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare’s enduring tale of passion, murder and tragedy in medieval Verona danced to Prokovief’s emotional score. This production toured China in 2011 and is being reworked by the same artistic team that created Ballet West’s recent productions of The Nutcracker and Swan Lake. REMOTE FRI 13 FEB 7:30PM £7 / £5 (CONC) The National Theatre’s Connections prides itself in being the ‘Biggest Youth Theatre Festival on the Planet’ and in 2015 will work with over 300 theatre companies across the UK bringing to stage 10 brandnew scripts written by exciting playwrights especially for the festival. The Macrobert Young Company [MYC] will be performing Remote by Stef Smith. A girl called Antler steps out of her front door and throws her phone on the ground. She stamps on it. She then climbs the tallest tree in the park. She doesn’t want to be found, not by anyone. Seven teenager’s lives all intertwine over the course of a single evening as they make their way through the park on a seemingly normal Autumn's night. Remote is a play about protest, power and protecting yourself.

DEMENTIA FRIENDLY EVENTS 27 JAN - 28 APR ÂŁ5 / FREE (ACCOMPANYING LOVED ONE / CARER)

On the last Tuesday of each month, macrobert is pleased to host dementia friendly events. These have been developed in consultation with adults living with dementia and their loved ones/carers. The idea is very simple - an afternoon out where you get to relax and enjoy live entertainment followed by refreshments. The Spring programme includes dance, film, music and storytelling. TUE 27 JANUARY 2PM - 4PM Storytelling and reminiscence with Lauren Bianchi. Join the Village Storytelling Centre for an hour of entertaining stories, songs from the 30s, 40s and 50s and reminiscence.

TUE 24 FEBRUARY 2PM - 4PM Emily Munro from the Scottish Screen Archive will introduce films from the archive and tell us a little about them. Local pianist Forrester Pyke will be on hand to accompany the films.

TUE 31 MARCH 2PM - 4PM In partnership with Live Music Now Scotland join musicians Fraser Langton (clarinet) and Juliette PhilogĂŠne (piano) for an afternoon of entertainment.
