ABOUT NIGERIA YOUTHSPEAK FORUM 2016 It is commonly said in Nigeria that "the youths are the leaders of tomorrow".

By 2030, Nigeria is estimated to be one of the few countries in the world that will likely have a bountiful supply of young workers. Out of a current projected population of over 169 million Nigerians, young people account for over 43 percent of the population. What this means is that there are currently over 72 million young people in the country (*according to Nigeria Bureau of Statistics). Thus, youth, more than oil, could be Nigeria’s asset in the following decades, depending on how this demographic reality is managed.

YouthSpeak Forum is an event that takes place in multiple locations around the world; bringing top young leaders together with business leaders, thought leaders, decision makers and experts for a conversation around pressing global and National issues with the aim to generate new, but most importantly, actionable ideas to that will impact the world and its future.

We will gather over 2000 young and passionate leaders from top Nigerian Institution and over 5 countries represented in Lagos, Nigeria on March 17 to 18 2016 to define forward thinking approaches and commitments to leading National transformational change in Nigeria in 2016.

THE CONCEPT THEME The 2016 theme is focused on Transformational Leadership, and the essence of leading transformational change. By closely assessing the Nigeria’s most pressing challenges as regards some of the crucial Global Goals for Sustainable Development, we will assess the role of youth in making changes by committing to action to make a true impact.

Given the context of 2016, we will seek to answer the following questions: • •

What kind of leadership is needed to solve the most pressing national challenges?

What can we learn from transformational leaders and organizations that have positively disrupted their sectors to make massive impact and social change?

What is the role of Nigerian youth in the 2016 generation to lead transformational Change?

INTERACTIVE FRAMEWORK INSPIRE Top business and thought leaders from around the world are invited to share their knowledge with the delegates about the chosen forum theme. This section of the event is delivered through short and powerful talks and aims to inspire delegates and help to form their opinions for the rest of the event.

ENGAGE Our partner organizations engage with the youth delegates to give new perspectives on issues relating to the forum theme through workshops, conversations and idea generation spaces. Youth and business are able to interact, exchange opinions and understand what is being done in the world already to address the question of the day.

ACT The youth delegates take their learning and insights from the day into a space where they are able to co- create ideas and solutions with their peers and experts in the room. The aim is to switch their ideas into actions that each stakeholder can take forward to contribute to the theme of the day, resulting in commitments and projects that organizations and stakeholders can support.
