Higgins caps a fantastic championships for NTGA by taking British title JAMES HIGGINS capped off a fantastic weekend for NTGA at the British Championships by reclaiming the Men’s National Title in Birmingham. Higgins, who won the gong four years in a row between 2007 and 2010, secured his fifth senior crown with a five-star performance at the LG Arena, beating 2012 champion Nathan Bailey and 2011 winner Luke Strong in an exhilarating final. Lying third after the prelims, James stepped up to score 56.525,
a total that Bailey, lying second, and Strong, lying first, were unable to match. NTGA’s other athletes did themselves and the club proud over a relentless weekend, with gold medals being added to the collection by Brodie Coleman, Andrew Stamp and Corin Clark along with sycnhro partner Isabelle Leigh-Warren. Corin also picked up a silver medal in her individual event, while there were bronze medals for Nichola Andrews, Charlie Masters and in the synchronised competition, Brett Coleman and
Josh Jones won bronze. Head coach of the academy, Tracy Whittaker-Smith, said: “It was a fantastic weekend for the club and shows that we have a lot to be proud of. “I’d like to thank our team of excellent coaches for all their hard work in helping prepare the performers for the British championships and congratulate them and the athletes for some really positive results. Massive congrats also go to James Higgins - senior Men’s British Champion!
