Andrew shines on world stage

Stamp wins silver and bronze medals at World Age Group Championships HUGE congratulations from all at NTGA to Andrew Stamp, who picked up silver and bronze medals from the World Age Group Championships in Florida recently. Andrew was in fine form from the start as he totalled a score of 44.355 for his first routine of the 13 to 14 boys competition - the highest of any competitor - on his way to a preliminary score of 95.675, which saw him lie second. A score of 52.335, starting

from zero, in the final round saw Andrew take the bronze medal, 0.4 behind Great Britain teammate Corey Walkes and 1.2 adrift the eventual winner, Japanese competitor Hiroto Unno. A score of 43.1 in the final round of the synchronised event saw Andrew and Corey finish as runners-up behind the Bulgarian duo of Mikita Fomchanka and Anton Shaiko, who won by 1.2. NTGA’s Brodie Hove-Coleman was also in action at Daytona Beach, scoring 85.555 on her

World Championship debut to finish 10th in the 11 to 12 women. Having only just turned 11-years-old, Brodie was one of the youngest gymnasts in the competition, and missed out on a final round place by just 0.5. Coach to both NTGA gymnasts, Harvey Smith (pictured above), travelled to the USA as part of the Great Britain coaching team, while NTGA head coach Tracy Whittaker-Smith accompanied the senior squad, who also enjoyed a successful event.

Success at Loule Cup

ALL SMILES - Brodie, Katie (front centre) and Josh (back left) had a successful competition in Loule

BRODIE HOVE-COLEMAN celebrated her first international call-up in September by winning the Loule Cup in Portugal. A score of 128.915 over three rounds was enough for the youngster to pip Great Britain team-mates Jessica Clarke and Madeleine Songhurst to first place at the annual competition in the Algarve. NTGA’s Katie Price followed in fourth place, just missing out on a podium position on her international debut. Josh Jones put in a solid performance in the 13 to 14 boys event to also finish fourth prior to the British Championships in Liverpool.

Tracy and Harvey win 2014 coaching awards HEAD COACH Tracy Whittaker-Smith was shocked and honoured to be awarded the prestigious British Gymnastics Outstanding Coach of the Year award recently. The award recognises a coach from the British Gymnastics High Performance programmes, who has produced outstanding international results, through their athletes, during the year concerned. Tracy led the Great Britain ladies team to World Championship gold in her first year in post as coach to

the senior women, while she also helped GB duo Katherine Driscoll and Amanda Parker become World Champions and World Games Champions in the year’s two major synchronised competitions. At the individual World Championships, Tracy presided over a top-12 finish for all four British women, and was rewarded with the coach of the year gong at a lavish ceremony at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry. The award made it a double for the club, after Harvey Smith picked up the Northampton Coach of the Year title.

Amanda heads to Kawasaki Cup A big NTGA good luck to Amanda Harris (pictured left), who competes at the Kawasaki Cup in Japan this weekend, December 20th and 21st. Accompanied by NTGA and Great Britain coach Tracy WhittakerSmith, Amanda travelled to Tokyo,

Japan, on Tuesday and has been training at the Japanese Institute of Sports Science in preparation for the invitational competition. The event is the final competitive action of 2014 and will see Amanda and Lewis Bartlett represent Great Britain.
