GEAN

H O U S E

Congratulations & Welcome

“Weddings - as individual as you are When he gave Gean House to his son as a wedding present, Alexander Forrester Paton could never have imagined that a century later other newlyweds would luxuriate in the love that went into the building of the place.

But today thats just the case.

This elegant, stylish house lends its own uniquely romantic spirit to the weddings and celebrations of all kinds that continue to bring it to life and fill its comfortable rooms with happiness and laughter.

Introduction to Gean House

In winter tall windows and inglenook fireplaces create light and warmth. In summer the garden and grounds beckon for moments of privacy and glorious photographic opportunities. With seven reception rooms there sample space for dancing, dining and speeches, or simply chatting. There s room, too, for children to let off steam, to get away from the adults and watch TV and movies, or just crash out. And the house is full of talking points the full height hallway, the minstrel’s gallery, the cosy coombed ceilings in the bedrooms, the oak panelling. Indoors or outdoors the intimate magic of Gean House touches everyone who passes through its gates.

Gean House has a wedding license so wedding parties can take the house for a whole weekend and never leave the seclusion of its twenty acres. Exclusive hire of Gean House and the lodge means that you have the use of all seven reception rooms and 18 bedrooms — sleeping a total of 36 people. And the resident Gean House wedding team will take care of everything for you, from the champagne and canape’s to the flowers and the music.

Loveliest of trees, the cherry now Is hung with bloom along the bough...

AE Housman

Named for the wild cherry trees in its grounds, Gean House is a peaceful place. With its solid walls and warm panelling, generous fireplaces and tall windows the house embraces its visitors and breathes Edwardian comfort.

Gean House was built in 1912 by local architect William Kerr in the style of Sir Edward Lutyens. Softer and less formal than a grand Victorian mansion, it bears all the distinctive features of Arts & Crafts design. It s a romantic building whose lines echo those of its natural surroundings, the wooded grounds and nearby Ochil Hills.

With seven fine public rooms, ten luxurious en-suite double bedrooms, and further accommodation in the purpose-built lodge, Gean House is suitable for exclusive letting to conference groups, wedding parties and other private parties of between ten and one hundred people.
