Centre-based Training Courses
Over the last few months, many ARCA members have continued working on projects supporting key worker organisations including the NHS. So, refresher training for operatives and supervisors was required as certificates needed to be kept up to date. By early May, ARCA had put together remote training to support those who needed refresher training and began delivering these courses, some of which were free to members. The remote courses cover all the theory elements of centrebased training, and numbers are limited so that a high level of interaction is possible. Now ARCA offers 13 remote training courses for asbestos removal operatives, supervisors and managers, to complement the centre-based classroom/practical training.

On 22nd June, ARCA reopened its centres and resumed practical asbestos training. All ARCA training at its training centres is being delivered strictly in accordance with guidance on safe working during COVID-19. This includes; reducing the number of candidates per course to ensure 2m social distancing can easily be achieved, in the training rooms desks are spaced out and candidates’ areas marked on the floor; for practical training individual areas have also been marked out, and there are hygiene stations. The images above show the set up at the Burton training centre. Since reopening practical training centres 100% of those candidates who gave feedback said they were satisfied with the COVID-19 safe working procedures in place.
