Beste lezer,
Wat is dat juist, een democratie?
Waarom is democratie belangrijk?
TijdenshetseminarieSDGwerkenwesamenaande realisatievandeduurzame ontwikkelingsdoelstellingenvandeVN Hetproject democratiewerktspecifiekrondSDG16‘vrede, veiligheidensterkepubliekediensten’.Daarmee bestrijdenwegeweldencorruptie, ijverenwevoor eerlijkerechtssystemenenvoorinclusieveen participatievebesluitvorming

Stan Lee born as Stanley Martin Lieber, born in New York, 28 decemer 1922 .He was an he was an american comic book artist. He became famous for creating legendary Marvel characters. His youth and young career...
Stan attended DeWitt Clinton High School. From an early age he was interested in writing and reading He finished school in 1939, and then started working at WPA Federal Theater Project. with a bit of help Stan could fix a job at Timely Comics ! Little did they know that this would become Marvel comics Before creating Marvel's legendary characters, he wanted to write a farewell letter in case he resigned. he found the job too depressing
Young Stan Lee made his comic-book debut named "Captain America Foils the Traitor's Revenge" In Captain America Comics #3, under the pseudonym Stan Lee (wordplay of his first name, "Stanley") which he later changed in to his legal name
Stan Lee entered the U.S. A i l 1942.
Later Marvel years Lee became a mainstay and the face for Marvel Comics, appearing at comic book conventions across America, lecturing at universities and participating in panel discussions. Lee and John Romita Sr. started the SpiderMan comic strip on January 3, 1977, originally a newspaper strip. Lee's last collaboration with Jack Kirby was The Silver Surfer: The Ultimate Cosmic Experience. This was published in 1978 as part of the Marvel Fireside Books series. This is also considered Marvel's first graphic novel.
Lee was never involved in the plan. After the success of X-men in 2000 and then the subsequent Spider-Man film, he had taken Marvel to court for underpaying him for so many years. But in the 1990s, after years of underpaying him, Marvel had promised him 10% of all future profits. At Comic-Con in 2016, Lee unveiled his digital graphic novel Stan Lee's God Woke, which was originally written as a poem that he presented at Carnegie Hall in 1972. The print version won the 2017 Independent Publisher Book
Lee retired from his normal duties at Marvel in the 1990s, while still receiving an annual salary of $1 million as chairman. In 1998, he started a studio for creating, producing and marketing superheroes; Stan Lee Media. Eventually up to 165 people ended up working there but towards the end of 2000, researchers discovered illegal stock manipulation. Stan Lee Media also requested protection for this in February 2001.

OurheroisJoanofArc, shewasawomanwho was born in France more specifically in Domrémy,nowadays Domrémy-la-pucelle (although at that time the village was still part of the German Empire).
She was born during the French civil war and the centennial war between France and England, in which she played a crucial part.
Joanofarc’searly years
Joan of Arc was born in 1412 and was not taught how to read or write At the age of 13 she heard a voice whom she believed was God. The voicetoldhershehadto behave well and go to church a lot, it also told hertogotoFrance. At this point the voice insisted Joan should break the siege of Orléans, a battle in which the English were attempting to conquer Orléans. At the age of 16 her father attempted to arrange a marriage for her but she convinced the court she should not have to accept the match.
In 1429 she set to fend off the siegeofOrléansinwhitearmor on a white horse. She led several French assaults which causedtheAnglo-Burgundians to retreat. After such a surprising victory Joan’s reputationspreadfarandwide across the French forces. This victory also caused Joan and herfollowerstobeabletolead Charles Vll over enemy territory, so he could be crowned (he became king CharlesVllinjuly1429).
One fateful day, when she was leading an assaultonCompiége(for which she didn’t have explicit permission of the king) she was thrown off her horse and was left behind outside the town gatesastheyclosed. The Burgundians took her captive. She tried to escape two times; the first time failed and she was brought to another placeoutsidethefighting range. The second time she jumped out of a tower window from the 21st floor, causing several severe injuries and she was brought to Arras by theBurgundians.
Joan’s trial took place in Rouen. In the trials that followed,Joanwasordered to answer to some 70 charges against her, including witchcraft, heresy and dressing like a man. The Anglo-Burgundians wereaimingtogetridofthe young leader as well as discreditCharleswhoowed hiscoronationtoher.

WethinkJeanneisarealhero because she was the first woman who could lead an entirearmy.Shewasalsovery brave and we admire that. Jeanne never gave up and continued to fight. We think that the French should really seeherasalegendaryfigure becausesheultimatelysaved France. Against all odds, she did something that no one had ever done before and that as a young woman is very special. That’s the main reason why we find her sacrificesoimportant.

Marilyn also had physiological problems like her mother, that also surfaced in her career. She participated in the filming of ‘The Misfits’ but that was stopped because she didn't show up too often. She was found dead at home on August 5, 1962. There are many theories about her death. Far too much of the drug chloralhydrat was allegedly found in her blood. Others claimed she was murdered by two men named Bobby Kennedy and Peter Lawford. To us she was a true hero because she was an inspiration and an example of what you can achieve if you follow your dreams and persevere, no matter what and regardless of what people may think of you.

“You are not born racist. You are born into a racist society.”
-Jane Elliot
JaneElliotwasborninNewYorkon
January 17th 1947. She was a teacher in primary school and a diversity educator. In 1968 Jane got famous with her experiment against racism. When a child came up to her the day after Martin Luther King died and asked:” Why did he die?”, reality struck and she came up with the experiment.
It is called “The Blue eyes/Brown eyes exercise”. Jane Elliot divided her classroom in two groups: one with blue eyes and one with brown eyes, to represent the difference in real life between peoples skin tones. The group withthebrowneyesgottreated differently than the other kids.
They didn’t get help in class and the other children couldn’t play with them. Jane Elliot got angry more easily and the group with the brown eyes couldn’t drink water in class. The other day, the roles turned andnowthechildrenwithblue eyesgotmistreated.

Julius Caesar started the invasion of Gaul, a country which often had groups of Tribes fightingamongstthemselves.
Gaul wasn’t really a united country which weakened it. When Gaul was completely invadedbytheRomanEmpire, allhopewas lostforthenation.
It was then that Ambiorix stood up and unitedallthetribes, armingthemwithshields and spears and all sorts of weapons. They werereadyforcombat.
Ambiorixplayeditcarefullyandwouldusea surprise attack as the first attempt of resistance. Ambiorix and his army were waiting at the side of a road where soon a Roman legion would pass by. NapoleonwastheFrenchgeneralduringtheFrenchrevolution.Weallknowhedidsomebad things, but have you ever thought about the good things he did? Well, we neither. Imagine beingintheFrenchrevolution, yourkinggotkilledandsomerandomguynamedNapoleon crownedhimselfemperor.Wouldyouagreewiththat?Whatishegoingtodo?Whoactuallyis Napoleon?
Napoleon was not born as Bonaparte, but as Buonaparte. He came from a noble family, an Italian family. He grew up on Corsica, Ajaccio. Later in his life, he journeyed to France at the age of nine and went to different military schools in his early life Although he never managed to get a degree, he got a high ranking job in the France military. After he joined the army, they made his name more FrenchandchangedittoBonaparte.Thename weknowtoday
The French revolution began in 1789 due to France being broke because King Louis XVI spent too much money This led to people revolting Napoleonwasarespectedgeneralin thearmy.BonaparteledcampaignsinItalyand Egypt, victories made him a hero in France at that time. When the government was weak, in ordertopreventasecondrevolution,Napoleon made a deal with the members of the government.Thekingwasoverthrown, andthey neededaleader,soNapoleoncrownedhimself EmperorofFrance.
Napoleon wasn’t a bad person, actually he didsomegoodthings.Firstly, hemodernized roads and sewers. The people were, obviously, veryhappyaboutthat.Bonaparte modernizedtheadministrationofjustice He invented the metric system (meters and kilometers) to measure distances. Unlike otherpeopleinthatera, hesawFrenchjews asequals.Itwasduetohimthatpeopleofa different ethnicity could attend school But the most famous thing he did was making surnames mandatory, some people didn’t take that seriously and thought that it was temporary. To join “Reuzegom”, a student club of Leuven, youhavetoendureadehumanizing baptismal rite. During this process, the acceding students are totally humiliated. Sanda Dia had to, for example, drink lots of gin after which he couldn’t drink any water. The other students also urinated on him and afterwards he had to spend hours in a self-dug hole filled with ice cold water. He had to eat numerous nasty things, thereafter he had a huge salt overdose. His body had a temperature of only 27,2 degrees Celsius. Shortly after that he got a heartattackandjust2dayslaterhediedin thehospital.
Justice esteemed that all the 18 members of “Reuzegom” were guilty of Sanda Dia’s death Dia’s family indicated that they would value genuine insight into guilt more thantheclubmemberstoendupinprison Themainsuspect“Janker”wasobligatedto pay a fine of 8000 euros and won’t be able to participate in elections for the next 5 years. During the session, the students expressed their regrets and assumed their responsibilities. Together they had to pay 4 000 up to 15 000 euros to Sanda’s family. Their individual punishments vary from fines of 400 euros to 300 hours of community service. Nevertheless, the father, Ousmane Dia, wasn’t satisfied with thejudgement.
In2018a20yearoldstudentdied duringabaptismalritetobeaccepted intothestudentclub“Reuzegom”.They alreadyhadbeenreportedfor inhumanebaptismalritesandnowthat someonedied,itgotoutofhand.Since thecourthadn’tpunishedtheclub enough,someonehadtostepup.He tookthematterintohisownhands,the 24yearsoldyoutubercalled“Acid”, fromWest-Flanders.
Nathan Vandergunst, a youtuber from Blankenberge who is better known as Acid, thought that the members of “Reuzegom” weren’t punished enough. Sohemadean11minutevideotoexpose them.Init,hemade4namesoftheclub members public, shared their profession and also showed pictures of them. All of this led to the embarrassment of those people, but it also nearly made the restaurant of one of their parents go bankrupt. Acid did all of this because he claimed that they hadn’t been punished properly, because of class justice. It was just because of their rich and influential parents. If they weren’t rich, they would have been punished more, so he thought. Therefore he decided to make that video, he wanted equality, he wanted“JusticeforSandaDia”.
TheSecondCourtCase Acid was sued for electronic security, last and first roofing and breach of the law surrounding the online sharing of personal data. However his intentions were right, he crossed a line You can’t just share things about people without consent He got a suspended prison sentence for 3 months with 3 years postponement, a fine of 800 euros to the victims fund and a 1 euro symbolic fineforthememberofthestudentclub that sued him. But his video also made a restaurant nearly go bankrupt, so he got to pay a provisional compensation of 20 000 euros, but that fine could even increasemore.
Right, butunaccepted Personally, wereallythinkthatheisahero, despite his extreme method. We believe that he was right by saying that the students weren’t punished enough. They killed an innocent person and could get awaywithalmostjustafewfines Theyare also really rich, so the fines aren’t even a problem for them. If rich people can just let somebody die and only need to pay someminorfines, thenthereissomething wrong.Theyshouldn'tbeabletogetoutof it easily. In our opinion, they haven’t even gotsuchahugepunishmentjustbecause they have rich parents. That’s just really unjustifiable, everybodyshouldbetreated equally. Class justice can’t happen in our democracy, so we should do anything to prevent that. That is what Acid did, he mayhaveviolatedthelaw, butitwasfora greater good. It was for showing people that class justice is real and the rich can do more. So we should listen and make thisstop.Wealsodon’tagreewiththefact thatthenamesofthememberswerekept a secret. If they would really regret this, they should accept that they did something wrong and face the humiliationtheydeserve Acidonlydidthe thingthatthecourtshadtodo.

He was born when Brazil was a democracy under Juscelino, who was president at the time, after his death, Brazil was a democracy under Lula, who was voted president again after 12 years. This is story of a hero of many, an enemy of some, but above all a three time F1 champion, this is the story of the legendary Ayrton Senna.
At first he was a test driver for Williams but he wanted more so when Toleman gave him a chance in the 1984 season he took it without hesitation. His career didn’t start that well; his first race he DNF(did not finish), then with 2 6th places in SouthAfrica and Belgium, he DNQ(did not Qualify) Eventually, Senna finished his first season with 13 points and 9th place. Lotus-McLaren
Then after one year he went to Lotus but he didn’t find any success there either. But he did get 6 wins, 21 podiums and 15 pole positions Three years later, he went to McLaren. Ayrton raced for six years at McLaren where he won 3 championships and 35 races of the 96 races that he did with McLaren, so he won 36% of the races.
Senna also had some problems with his teammate Alain Prost, who he forced out of McLaren, because he crashed with him in the Japan grand prix and lost the championship. So Prost went to Ferrari and the next year Ayrton got pole position in Japan and Prost got second and Ayrton needed to start on the dirty side (the side with les rubber soles traction) When the race started and Prost went past Senna, Senna didn’t slow down and touched Prost in the first corner, so they both couldn't continue and Senna won the Championship because of that.
Because McLaren didn’t work as well as it used to, Ayrton Senna went to Williams Renault The 1st of May 1994, he tragically died during the San Marino grand prix. They think it happened because the laps before the crash there was a safety car because of another crash so his tires weren’t warm and so his tire pressure wasn’t good and that must have caused a ground reflection The steering column on the car broke off and hit him in the head and unfortunately, his helmet didn’t provide enough protection
Ayrton Senna's death was a tragic death but it did help make the F1 sport safer He raced for 10 years and in those years he proved he was one of the best; he won an impressive 41 prizes and drove a total of 162 Grand Prix
Senna was an idol of many, a friend of some but above all he was a hero of many For us he is an inspiration to start following your dreams and always trying your best, seizing every opportunity you get along the way

the mother of the Civil Rights Movement
December 1st 1955, the day that everything changed. An ordinary woman became famous because of one small act, she decided she wasgoingtositatthefrontofthe bus and not let society tell her what to do, even though other womenwerealsoarrestedearlier.
Rosa Louise McCauley was born on February 4 1913, in Alabama. Growing up, people treated her unfairly because of her skin color. She couldn’t go to the same schools as white people. As you cantellthediscriminationalready started at a young age. Later in life, she married a man named Raymond Parks who was part of the NAACP, an organization who fought against racism, discriminationandhate.Rosaalso joined the group because she likedwhattheystoodfor.
On Thursday December 1st 1955 Rosa went home after a long day at work and decided to ride the bus. 70 percent or more riders of the bus were black, and on this day Rosa Parkswasoneofthem.
At one point of the route, a white man had no seat because all the seats in the “white”sectionweretaken. The driver told some people from the“coloured”sectiontostand up and give up their seats to white passengers, the others obeyedbutRosarefused.
The driver called the police and Rosawasarrested.
Her arrest caused the African American community in Montgomery to protest and boycott the city buses. They stopped riding the city buses to protest the discrimination. This is how the Montgomery bus boycottstarted.
Black people walked, carpooled or found other ways to get around. It lasted for over a year untiltheychangedthelaw.Itwas a big win for the Civil Rights Movement.
One more thing we would like to addressis…
Rosa Parks didn’t only inspire us but also a lot of other activists, women and Martin Luther King. He admired Rosa’s courage and commitment to justice. She was a symbol of hope for many people. We admire Rosa’s actions and her impact on today's society. We find her very brave because she stood up against unfair rules.
We would like to tell the world, no matter who you are, you can make a big difference by standing up for what's fair and what'sright.

ALEKSEI NAVALNY, HE LIVED IN A COUNTRY WHERE IT IS FORBIDDEN TO EXPRESS YOUR OPINION OR TO SAY WHAT YOU WANT, HE DID, AND HE DIED.
On February the 16th, the terrible news was slow to trickle into Europe. Aleksej Navalny had passed away in a Siberian penal colony due to the sudden death syndrome. It is very unfortunate, because this man gave his beloved country Russia some hope to end corruption. Clearly, at the risk of his own life, which ended too soon.
Putin didn’t like the constant criticism coming from Navalny, he (actually the FSB, under command of Putin) even tried to murder him once in 2020, with help of the poison called Novitsjok. Luckily, Aleksej survived the horrible attack!
Even though he was executed by the people of the Russian federation, many people see him as the greatest hero of their foreign and beloved country Russia. Navalny made people realize that it was possible to not agree with the political decisions that were made, only that it was forbidden, not that it didn’t exist He was arrested multiple times for saying things that Putin didn’t like, but they always had an excuse like fraud and other violations.
“Peopledon’tlikepoliticians,andIcan understandwhy.”
All his good work was maybe hated by the Russian authorities but the rest of the world did appreciate it. In 2021 Navalny was nominated for the nobel prize of peace, and he has received a lot of prizes like the Sacharov prize from the European government. On top of that, his film called ‘Navalny’ has won an oscar
Passed away too soon
We think that Navalny was an amazing man who passed away way too early. He did a lot for his country and we do appreciate that. He deserved justice and will forever remain in our hearts.
Written by: Helena De Rooster, Elyssa Verbruggen
Based on this story, I think it is very important to remember to always speak out and stride for justice, no matter the cost.

-1stpresidentofSouthAfrica
Nelson Mandela was an amazing leader and fought for equality and justice. Thanks to his determination there were people inspired by him and helped him achieve what he dreamt about. He believed in democracy but his nation of South-Africa was in the apartheid era which meant that the government divided the people in 3 groups : the whites, the blacks and the Indians. There were rights and hardships for each group. Because of his beliefs, he spent 27 years in prison, after his release he became the first black president of South-Africa.
Nelson deserves to be called a legend and a hero because of his power of standing up for what's right.
In our opinion, he was very brave for sticking to his ideals and his ideas even if it was against the regime of his land.

It was a dark time, her country was at war. A lot of people, including children, were dying. Rose Scott lived in Australia. She was born on October 8, 1847 and she died on April 20, 1925. Back in the day women’s rights were a lot different than they are right now. Women were not allowed to vote or express their opinion. She was present at the beginning of an important revolution.
Rose Scott was instrumental in securing women’s rights to vote in Australia, as well as engineering many other social reforms for women and children.
As an Australian women’s rights activist, who advocated for women's suffrage and universal suffrage in New South Wales, she made her mark at the turn-of-the twentieth century.
Rose founded the Women's Political Education League in 1902, which campaigned successfully to raise the age of consent to sixteen. She settled in Paddington becoming a popular figure in social and intellectual circles and entertaining many influential and noteworthy people at her home Lynton, at 294 Jersey Road then Point Piper Road.
‘Life is too short to waste on the admiration of one man. ’
An activist, feminist and social reformer in Australia, she believed that offering women other options besides marriage or prostitution could reduce their dependence on and exploitation by men.
She was dedicated to working for the advancement of women and was one of the key figures in the movement committed to universal suffrage.
Although Scott officially left public life in 1922, she continued to give newspaper interviews and stayed in touch with the outside world.
Rose was very disappointed that women’s rights had not moved quickly after women gained the right to vote. She died on April 20, 1925.
Our opinion about Rose Scott is that she was a wonderful and strong woman. She was very brave. We respect her very much because she stood up for women's rights and was an inspiration and a beacon of light for a lot of young girls and women at the time.

Rosy van Hoecke was the oldest survivor of The Red Star Line. She was a brave woman who helped a lot of people and protected them on the boat. The people on The Red Star Line were already scared because they would go to an unknown land and the conditions and strict policy on board didn’t make it any easier. Rosy was also afraid but she didn’t show it, she helped little children and women.
During a violent argument, he shot Annette and her mother dead. Behind rosy's bed were eight bullet holes. Luckily, he wasn’t able h h i d
With the making of The Red Star Line museum in Antwerp, they used Rosy's story for the museum. Rosy died in 2021. That makes her the oldest survivor of The Red Star Line. We admire her because she was very brave and a strong woman. She showed what women could do and what they were capable of. In that time women weren’t appreciated as much as now.
The moral of the story is that you need to help other people just like Rosy did. Even if you are scared yourself. Rosy had a trauma and that is why she wanted to help all these people. She was an inspiration because of her bravery and selflessness for a lot of people on The Red Star Line -https://wwwhlnbe/antwerpen/portret-afscheid-van-rosy-101-deoudste-passagier-van-de-red-star-line-moordpartij-in-new-yorkbracht-haar-naar-antwerpena6f866eb/202227784/? referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwwwgooglecom%2F -https://wwwnieuwsbladbe/cnt/dmf2019062604479880 -https://wwwgvabe/cnt/dmf2021042395235257

In the history of American presidents, there is one name that sticks in the minds of many people. Abraham Lincoln, I bet everyone knows that name. But who exactly was he and why is he so famous? In this article, we will explore Abraham Lincoln's extraordinary journey, his impact on the United States, andhislastinglegacythathasstoodthetestoftime.
For our hero we chose Abraham Lincoln. On the 12th of February in 1809 he was born and sadly enough, on April 15th in 1865 he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. In his life he had a lot of professions, he was a politician, lawyer and worked in the military (captain).AbrahamwasanAmericancitizen,livedinthe19thcentury andsavedalotofinnocentpeople.LincolnwasmarriedtoMaryTodd andhad4childrenwithher,thosewerenamed:RobertToddLincoln, Edward Baker Lincoln, William Wallace "Willie" Lincoln and Thomas "Tad" Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln’s known as the 16th president of the Unitedstatesandasthepresidentwhoabolishedslavery.Hedidthis becauseinhisopinionhethoughtthattheAmericanCivilWarwasa war created by the people, to end slavery once and for all. By doing thisheindicatedthathewasveryneutralthroughoutallraces.
Abraham Lincoln was also a member of the Whig Party that was established in opposition to the democratic president Andrew Jackson. Whig party members defended the primacy of congress and did not want the president to have too much power. They did favor economic modernization and a protectionist trade policy. Surprisingly, Lincoln was someone who liked to leave everything the sameasitwas.Lincolnalsoreallycouldn'tstandemotionalpolitics.
We’dliketopointoutthatAbrahamLincolnwasatrueherobecause can now live in a democracy and a society in which we all live together and everyone is accepted equally. Let’s not forget that slavery is one of the worst things known to man, it’s inhuman that peoplecancreatesuchathing.

A real hero in World War 2 was Hannie Schaft. Hannie was a Dutch woman who was on the council of the resistance. Schaft killed a lot of awful people to save the people in her country and herself. Her nickname was the girl with the red hair because Hannie had such bright red hair.
She wasn’t herself anymore
Hannie Schaft wasn't her real name. Her real name was Jannetje Johanna Schaft. Hannie was her alias when she went back to live with her parents in Haarlem. She took an increasingly active part in the resistance and helped people in hiding with stolen ration cards and identity cards. Together with her many friends, she committed several attacks on Germans, collaborators and traitors. Her heroic actions were very numerous.
Hannie ( or Jannetje) learned German fluently and started flirting with German soldiers. Because of this, she was considered a traitor by some resistance members. She was arrested at a roadblock on March 21, 1945 when she was found to be carrying illegal magazines and a weapon. At the Haarlem police station the Germans discovered who they were dealing with.
Although at the end of the war there was an agreement between the occupiers and the Home Forces not to kill women, Hannie was shot dead on April 17, 1945, 3 weeks before the end of the war. She was shot dead by the orders of Willy Lages in the dunes near Bloemendaal.
The photo next to this text is a photo of Hannie's fake identity card. In this photo she was in disguise. Hannie had dyed her hair black and was wearing glasses.
It is lionhearted that she did this, but personally we wouldn’t do it ourselves. She is a brave young woman in our eyes. Jannetje once said
It is really understandable that she said that because the World War lasted a really long time. A lot of awful things happened during the War, people were getting killed in front of their families’ eyes, they got taken away from their home,...
Jannetje stood up for the people in her country and that is something beautiful to do. She did all these things for those people but by helping them, she got herself killed.
According to us, She was a hero and a really dauntless woman. A lot of people can learn from Hannie; the way she helped strangers unconditionally and ultimately paid the highest price for her valor.

David Goggins is a man who fought for the USA; he is a retired Navy seal and he has completed the famous “Hell week” five times. Known for its patriotism, the military is a big thing so that's why David got into the military. At the time there were wars in the middle east so the citizens needed help.
David is 48 years old and was born in Buffalo, New York. He also writes books his last book was published just this year. It's called: “Nada pode me ferir”.
In our opinion that is a very brave and difficult thing to do. I think that we wouldn't be able to do the same thing and therefore he is very inspirational to us.
David Goggins is our hero because he does all these things to become a better person and he makes a good example for teenagers.
. David Goggins’ military background reads like a case of a bad “stolen valor” , the retired navy seal chief is believed to be the only member of the armed forces to ever complete the Basic underwater demolition/seal (buds/s) course, also completing the famous hell week five times

In 1945, Ferencz was one of the first investigators to collect evidence of crimes committed in concentration camps He visited, among others, the Buchenwald concentration camps and the Ohrdruf camp, which was unofficially part of Buchenwald. Tens of thousands of people died in these camp
Of the 3,000 men who made up the squadron, Ferencz selected 22 who were put on trial. He could not bring all of them to justice so Ben made a selection based on rank in the army and level of education They were all highly educated men with high positions. All 22 suspects were found guilty Thirteen of them received the death penalty.
Ben Ferencz, the last prosecutor from the Nuremberg trials, died at the age of 103 He became known for the prosecution of war criminals from the Second World War, but also was one of the founders of the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
We admire this man a lot because of what he did to help the victims of the Holocaust Ferencz helped them financially but he also helped them by punishing the people that hurt their families. He punished them in a legal way which not many people had the courage to do. Benjamin was one of the only people that cared about the victims
Benjamin Ferencz was an undaunted man because he just wanted peace and didn’t want the perpetrators to get away with what they did. Unfortunately he could not punish all the perpetrators but he did punish everyone he in his power.
So in a world full of lies , you have to stand up and do what’s right

Barack Obama was an African-American president. This is a really big milestone in the history of the United States because this was a first for the United States. His accomplishments for this country are too numerous to mention all. Get ready to read this article about one of the greatest presidents of the United States.
Barack Obama was born on 4th of august 1961 in Honolulu, United States. His parents got divorced when he was only 2 years old. After High school Obama moved to Los Angeles, where he studied at Occidental College for 2 years. Barack continued his study at the Columbia-university in New York. He then graduated in 1983 in politics with international relations as his specialty. In 1988 Barack began his rights study at Harvard university. Barack Obama hit the news in 1990 when he was elected as the first Afro-American for the Harvard Law Review.
Barack was elected president of the United States on the 20th of January 2009. As the first black president he represented millions of black people around the world. This was a very big step towards equality in America.
“My Fellow Americans, we are and will always be a country of immigrants, we were strangers once too”
Barack Obama
At the beginning of his leadership, Barack stated he wanted to send extra military troops to Afghanistan.
On the 1st of December he announced he would send an extra 30.000 troops to Afghanistan to support the 71.000 troops that were already fighting in Afghanistan. Obama also said he would retrieve military troops within 18 months. In July of 2010
Stanley McChrystal got replaced with Obama as military commandant of the situation in Afghanistan.
“I’m a warrior for the middle class”
Barack Obama
Barack gave a Navy SEALS team permission to raid a villa located in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The leader of the terrorist group ‘Al Qaida’ and mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks: Osama bin Laden. Bin Laden was successfully killed, but the war against the group is still raging today.
Barack Obama will go down in history as the first ever black president, the person who killed Bin Laden and who stayed calm while having to control TWO wars during his leadership. But he also had a very deep impact on the regular people, especially the people of the black community. He represented equality and deflected racism and discrimination. He was truly one of the greatest, he was like a father figure for America.
“WHY CAN’T I JUST EAT MY WAFFLE!”
Barack Obama
Personally, we think that Barack Obama is the greatest president in the history of the United states; he truly changed the world to what it is today. He was very passionate about his job and treated everyone equally. Because he knew what it felt like not to belong, to be treated equally and that’s something we can all relate to

He was an industrialist, humanitarian and Nazi party member. Schindler turnedouttobeawonderful, heroicandgentleman.HeworkedfortheNazis duringWWII,butinsteadofkillingJews, hedecidedtosavethem.
First, Oskar Schindler arranged to let the jews work in his factories to make enamelware and ammunition Enamelware is a defensive layer of molten glass to protect metal and earthenware Heusedthejewsforhisown sakeandmadealotofmoneywithit. He was an opportunist and was driven by profit.
In 1938 he joined the military intelligence ofNaziGermanyandusedhispositionto protectthejewsthatworkedinhisfactory fromdeportationanddeath Thenameof the factory was Kraków. As time went on, Oskar Schindler had to pay the Nazi officials off with luxury items in order to savehisJewishemployees
Due to his excellent people skills and talent for bribing, he didn’t have to pay that much In 1944 Germany was losing the war. Almost all the jews in the concentration camps in the east were gettingmurderedsoSchindlermovedhis factory to a safer place. Subsequently, Schindler saved the jews from certain death.
In May 1945 Schindler spent his entire fortuneonbribesandsuppliestokeephis Jewishworkerssafe Afterthewarhelost allhismoneyandwenttoArgentinaand remained there, isolated from business opportunities and his previous living environment
Oskar was a great man who put his life onthelineformorethana1000jews.
Oskar Schindler’s factory has been converted to a museum for modern art now.
He wasn’t a good student; he was sent awaybecausehefalsifiedhisreportcard. Because of this he almost got the nickname“Shindlertheswindler”. After his death they gave him another nickname and that was “righteous amongthenations”. AfterthewarhemovedtoArgentinaand the Jewish community paid for everything.
“Ihatedthebrutality, thesadism, andthe insanityofNazism.Ijustcouldn'tstandby and see people destroyed I did what I could, what I had to do, what my conscience told me I must do. That's all thereistoit Really, nothingmore”
