SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITY ONE MILLION PUSH-UPS IN ONE DAY

EVERY PUSH-UP COUNTS EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS EVERY YOUTH COUNTS STRONG AT THE CORE STRONGER IN THE COMMUNITY The authentic culture at the iHuman Youth Society is one of acceptance, openness and a genuine willingness to support youth. The focus is to offer youth opportunities to meet with iHuman professional staff and other social agency personnel as required, to engage in harm reduction activities, and participate in arts-related activities that foster positive self-worth and encourage reintegration into the community.

BE A HERO TO YOUR CREATIVITY

On September 20, 2014 a very unique event will take place at Northlands EXPO. Edmontonians will be doing one million push-ups in one day. On that day 1,000 people will be doing 1,000 push-ups each. Something that’s never been done before on planet earth. We will be raising $1 for every push-up we do. Our collective goal is to raise $1 Million for the iHuman Youth Society.

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITY ONE MILLION PUSH-UPS IN ONE DAY 3

EXECUTIVESUMMARY iHUMAN: MISSION STATEMENT iHuman's mission is to work with traumatized youth who exhibit high-risk lifestyles. We promote their reintegration into the community through social support, engagement and outreach programs involving crisis intervention, arts mentorship and life-skills development. Through iHuman, youth are finding their own identity, becoming more empowered, and creating their own compelling future.

WHY DO 1 MILLION PUSH-UPS?

Why? Because personally committing to do 1,000 push-ups in one day (with about 1,000 other people) and wanting to make a difference in the lives of others who are facing some very difficult realties – is way easier than... Being a youth, living rough on the streets, struggling to survive dysfunctional, often cruelly abusive families. Being ignored or abandoned by those entrusted with your care and living in a dangerous world where violence against you is an everyday fact of life, where health care, education and opportunity are distant dreams, where social services are not accessible.

COST EFFECTIVE iHuman is one of the most cost-effective not-for-profit organizations in the province. Keeping one high-risk youth off the streets in Edmonton saves the government and taxpayers $146,000 or more per year. (iHuman has 500+ youth registered with the program).

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

As a first year event we need a “bit of a push” and some solid financial support to compliment our dedicated team and committed sponsors to date. The project will achieve four important objectives, wrapped into an authentic theme that will help make you and our city stronger. Through a unique partnership of community building, 1,000+ Edmontonians will come together and do what has never been done anywhere in the world – one million push-ups delivered through an exciting community engagement strategy and a highly memorable event leading to a world record! – We have four unique “Hero Sponsorship” opportunities for your consideration plus a “Title Sponsorship” opportunity where you can obtain naming rights, which will bring you recognition on a national level. – Reach a diverse audience and help bring communities together in a unique way. – The CTV media challenge will garner engagement and extended media reach. – Flash mob, fitness and wellness workshops. – 12,000+ people pledging and supporting participants via engaging website and impactful social media strategies and challenges. (approximately 1,900* participants) – Strong experienced team in place to deliver the project and event with sponsors already committed. *Based on 700 individual participants each doing 1,000 push-ups and 300 teams of 4 people doing 250 each.

MAKE SOMETHING STRONG EVERY PUSH-UP COUNTS

1 million push-ups is a very Edmonton thing to do – plus it’s an awesome opportunity to get fit, have fun and make a difference. By helping others we also help ourselves, the result being a safer, caring and productive society. This project will bring together every walk of life in the city, building positive links within and between communities in Edmonton. It will also play a vital role in developing an individual’s potential and self-confidence. Doing 1,000 push-ups individually is a challenge, overcoming that challenge will reinforce the notion that helping others makes you strong!

EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS

The money raised will help equally support iHuman’s ongoing operational needs as well as our All In! Edmonton Capital Campaign, which has the objective of building a permanent home for your youth and long term stability. (please visit www.heroesneedapply.org for more information). Securing a permanent home (our 22,000 square foot studio facility renovation) will allow us to deliver our essential services with more continuity and stability for our clientele – leading to a stronger inner city, committed community engagement and a safer, caring productive society.

EVERY YOUTH COUNTS

iHuman never gives up. We never turn a youth down. iHuman works with traumatized youth who live rough on the streets and have seemingly lost everything. We use creativity and authentic care as a tool that can empower disenfranchised youth with belief in themselves and the ability to contribute back to the community.

5

iHUMANYOUTHSOCIETY BE A HERO TO YOUR CREATIVITY

In 1997, a few Edmontonians came together to solve a problem: there were too many neglected and abandoned young people on the streets. Some were homeless. Others battled addictions and mental illness. The route into crime was too easy. And there was no existing model that worked well to solve this problem. So iHuman Youth Society built an alternative model that was more attractive, more powerful, more Edmonton: we built it on creativity. Making Something. iHuman invites and helps young people to find new directions in their lives through caring, artistic expression and authentic life-skills development.

iHuman has helped hundreds of youth who have beaten the odds, broken the cycle and become healthy members of our community.

MAKE SOMETHING STRONG

1,000 x 1,000 = $1,000,000 PEOPLE PUSH-UPS PUSH-UPS Former Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel’s greatest legacy teaches all of us that a city is only as strong as the voice of its most vulnerable youth. “A city and its future are only as strong as the vision and opportunity that we have provided for our young people. They are our future – but only if we stand up together and make sure that not one youth will ever be left behind.”

Doing one million push-ups in one day will give our youth a voice and the world a reason to listen. Plus it’s a very very Edmonton thing to do!

So...what are you waiting for ARNOLD? Break out the protein powder, drop and do 25.

Grrrrr.

THEEVENT EVENT BACKGROUND

The main purpose of this inaugural 1 Million Push-up event is to help iHuman Youth Society raise funds and awareness. We are planning for it to become an annual event that will increase reach and expand audience engagement.

FLASHPUSH-UPMOB

There have been numerous fundraising events staged throughout the world using push-ups as a way to raise funds for charity. However, there has never been an event where one city or one group has attempted 1 million push-ups in one day. The idea was fostered by Steven Csorba, a cancer survivor and well known elite soccer coach/community champion who has participated in many push-up fundraisers. The motivation to attempt 1Million push-ups in one day comes from the community strength that defines the people and City of Edmonton.

ACTIVITIES PLANNED FOR THE EVENT INCLUDE: – High energy motivational atmosphere. – iHuman youth performing live music.

FLASH PUSHUP MOB will take place on June 7 to increase awareness, engagement and excitement. Our media partners will capture and showcase the events (TV mainstream and social media audiences)

10

– Colour coded participant zones with a central stage and live projection streaming, hosted by a celebrity MC. – High performance zone. Competitions with the fastest participants to make 1,000 push-ups. Gender and age specific youth groups i.e. fastest over 20, over 30, over 40, over 50, etc. – A fun competition for the most creative wacky push-up outfits. – Guest celebrities and motivational speakers at important timing points – Motivational banners displayed with the top “My 10 Reasons Why” – Recognition for the top fundraisers with close circuit camera, providing live participant action as well.

MEASURESOFSUCCESS EVENT OBJECTIVES The success of the event will be measured by the number of participants, dollars raised, new supporters, media awareness, and other variables. Our goal is to raise $1 Million for iHuman over the course of four months. Funds will be collected both offline and online as they are pledged towards each participants goal. This will commence once the website is launched via a flash push-up mob and media event (scheduled for June 7, 2014). The event has the following core objectives. – To raise $1 Million and awareness for iHuman. – To promote the benefits of preventive health care via healthy active lifestyles and engage the fitness community in a big and meaningful way. – Make it easy for everyone to get involved via our community partnership team, by implementing outreach teams and social media engagement challenges. – To connect people from all backgrounds and walks of life. This event will bring four diverse participating groups together to break a world record. We will measure our success with the following tools: – Our website will allow iHuman (via back end office tools) to automatically issue CRA compliant tax receipts for all online and reconciled offline donations. – Our social media dashboard will allow us to consolidate all social media activity and report metrics of organic engagement and feedback. – Our stewardship team will allow us to provide recognition and thanks to all participants. There will be a feedback mechanism that will allow us to capture recommendations to improve and enhance next year's event.

A HEALTHY MIND EQUALS A HEALTHY BODY WHAT ARE THE PHYSICAL BENEFITS OF PUSH-UPS? Push-ups allow you to train and build stability in a variety of muscle groups. This can help you avoid injury during day to day activities or other forms of athletic training, particularly if you perform push-ups the right way. Push-ups are commonly used as a strength building exercise. You perform push-ups by placing yourself in a horizontal position balancing on the hands and toes while facing down, then using the arms to raise and lower yourself. This may also be known as a press up. Physical education or civilian athletic training will frequently incorporate push-ups into their routine. Push-ups also help to train the midsection of the body while strengthening the core.

SPONSORME! Sponsor me $25 and I’ll drop and do 25 push-ups, $100 then you can really make me suffer and I’ll do 100 just for you! In total I need to raise $1,000 (or more) so whatever you can give will all add up to something big that will support a great cause and something that’s never been done before on planet earth.
