he recent inaugural Newcastle Fashion Week was the brain child of young cancer survivor and student, Louise Mackay, 23, who was diagnosed with leukaemia five years ago. Newcastle Fashion Week, brought to you by the GPT Group, was devoted to raising awareness of the needs of young adults with cancer, with all proceeds going directly to The Cancer Council NSW. Fashion parades took place at the fashionably transformed second level of The Store building in Hunter Street, Newcastle, over three days (September 23rd, 24th and 25th), featuring talented local designers and boutiques. The catwalk, a massive 25 metres long and one metre high, was the vocal point for six parades throughout the event.
