Properties headed to auction By Stephen Borgna Steuben Courier

Approximately 100 delinquent tax properties throughout Steuben County will go up for auction at the Steuben County Real Property Tax Auction at 10 a.m. July 12 at Campbell-Savona High School. The properties range from houses to former businesses to

vacant lots. The county said in several cases, the vacant lots will be sold with the neighboring building. There are multiple properties listed within the City and Town of Corning and the Village of Riverside. Several are also available in Addison, Savona, and the Town and Village of Bath. “Some properties are in pretty good shape. Some need work,

and there’s vacant lots. And there’s some that could probably be torn down,” said Steuben County Finance Commissioner Patrick Donnelly. Donnelly said three of the properties currently have open cases with the Department of Environmental Conservation for ongoing cleanups such as air filtering cleanup or water monitoring on the site. One property re-

cently had an open case, but that case has since been closed. The three properties with open DEC cases are 7324 State Route 54 in Bath, the former Stanbury Gas Station; 511 E. High St. in Riverside, the former Briggs Auto building; and 175 Seneca St. in Hornell, a former gas station and now a vacant lot.
