knock narcotics search warrant at 5 Robie St., apartment 202 in the Village of Bath. The search warrant was the result of the Steuben County District Attorney’s Drug Initiative investigation into the sale of crack cocaine at the residence over the past month.

Events slated at area fire departments this weekend Steuben Courier Volunteer fire departments in the area will be taking part in the statewide Recruit NY event this weekend. The Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) organizes the annual public awareness initiative to encourage the recruitment and retention of local volunteer firefighters and EMTs. According to FASNY, the number of volunteer firefighters statewide declined from 140,000 in the early 1990s to less than 90,000 just a few years ago. Volunteer emergency medical technicians (EMTs) experienced a decline from more than 50,000 to

35,000 during the same period, with some rural counties experiencing as much as a 50 percent depletion of their EMT ranks. But FASNY notes that RecruitNY and other initiatives are beginning to make a difference and approximately 20,000 firefighters have been added to the ranks of departments statewide over the past few years. This year’s recruiting events are set for Saturday & Sunday, April 27 and 28. Event details vary by department, but often feature demonstrations, entertainment for kids and food. Local events will be held:

Woman faces drug charges The Spectator

GENESEO — Livingston Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reported the arrest of a Steuben County woman on drug related charges after a traffic stop on Interstate 390. Last Thursday, Deputy Shawn Whitford was assigned to the Sheriff ’s Office Operation Safe Interstate initiative when he stopped a vehicle on Interstate 390 for an alleged traffic violation.
