Steuben ‘stands up’ for recovery Submitted BATH – Steuben County officials joined with representatives of Addiction Awareness of Steuben County and Recover-NY Steuben Wednesday for the county’s second annual “Stand Up For Recovery Day.” The event drew more than two dozen participants in support of reducing the stigma associated with addiction. “The response to substance abuse and addiction must be community-wide,” county Legislature Vice Chair Carol Ferratella, R-Riverside, said in a proclamation. The now-annual event is a part of Steuben’s ongoing efforts to inform people in the area about substance abuse and agencies available to support abusers and their loved ones.

The New York State Department of Transportation announced that work will begin during the week of March 25 to repair a landslide that occurred in January on State Route 54A in the Town of Urbana. The location is approximately 2.5 miles north of the Village of Hammondsport. The repair is expected to take approximately eight weeks. During this time both directions of traffic will continue to be accommodated in one lane using temporary traffic signals. BATH — A Bath man was arrested for allegedly damaging police vehicles. On March 4, the Village of Bath Police Department arrested James Racalto, 54, of East Washington St. Ext., Bath, charging him with seconddegree criminal mischief, a class-D felony. The arrest stems from an investigation into damage to several Village of Bath Police cars and an officer’s personal car in February. The charges
