ULYSSES, Pa. — The frigid winter weather has not only been tough on people, but also on the region’s maple syrup producers. An old time Maple Man once said, the best time to tap Sugar Maple trees for sap is while their feet are still cold and their arms are just getting warm. That said, maple syrup producers across Western New York and Northern Pennsylvania have been facing a freeze on production due to the cold weather. The sap is now just starting to run. Clean Sugar Alternative: Eating “clean” refers to intaking foods that have little to no processing. Making maple syrup is simply boiling tapped sap down to a concentrate. 3. Champion Disease Fighter: The University of Rhode Island found that maple syrup has 54 beneficial compounds. BATH – A commercial auction will be held starting Monday for the former Philips Lighting manufacturing plant in Bath. Bids will start at $450,000 for the 335,835-square foot facility on 72 acres at 7265 State Route 54. The auction, being conducted by Ten-X.com, requires a $10,000 participation deposit to bid. Steuben County Industrial Development Agency Director Jamie Johnson said he’s had conversations with potential bidders on how the IDA may be able to

Tyrtle ‘Kickoff ’ March 29 Submitted
BATH – The “Kickoff Party” for the 28th annual Tyrtle Beach fundraiser to benefit area youth programs will be set to the music of local stars Wendy Owens and Jim Anderson and will begin at 5:30 p.m. March 29 at the Bath Country Club. A popular springtime tradition in Steuben County, the fundraiser has raised more than $700,000 for youth programs in central Steuben in 27 years, including $40,000 raised last year by Campbell-Savona High School Principal Kelley Meade.
