Jumpstart A Planning Guide for the 2020-2021 School Year

Dear STE Parents, On behalf of the STE faculty and staff, I hope that summer provides some much needed rest and relaxation after an eventful year.

Over the coming months, the administrative team will be working to ensure a smooth start to the 2020-2021 school year.

This booklet is meant to let you get a “jumpstart” on planning for the upcoming school year. Although we have included much of the information you need for the new school year, we will also post information and forms on the Parent Resources section of stes.org.

Please take a moment to read the Communication at STE and Fundraising at STE sections of this booklet. They explain how we communicate with school families and why fundraising is a necessary part of our school’s future growth and success.

We want every family to feel engaged in life here at STE. We have included the contact information for members of our administration and staff in this booklet. Please feel free to contact any of us with your questions or concerns.

School uniforms are available through Mills Uniform Company. Visit millswear.com for store locations, as well as the latest on any store closures or hour adjustments. We encourage you to start making plans for uniform shopping as certain items may be delayed due to regional closures related to COVID-19.

Health Forms The Health Forms for the 2020-2021 school year have been mailed. Please be aware that some of the forms require a parent and physician signature. The Certificate of Participation Medical Form (physical) is required for all students. The Health Form packet states a deadline of August 1. If you are able to meet this deadline, please submit the forms at your earliest convenience. If you are unable to meet the August 1 deadline, or if you have not received a packet, please contact Anne Sexton in the nurse’s office at nurse@stes.org.

Bus Information STE offers bus service to students living in the Pearland area. To sign up for this service, please complete a Bus Service Transportation form, available in the school office or on stes.org under Parent Resources. The cost of this service is listed on the form.

After School Care Parents may enroll students in Kindergarten through 8th grade in the After School Care program. After School Care is available from 3:30-6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. An application with relevant fee information is available in the school office or on stes.org under Parent Resources.

Shopping Partnership Programs STE partners with AmazonSmile, Kroger, and Randalls to take part in their community programs. For each purchase you make at one of these stores, a portion of your purchase is donated to the school.

These donations help support and improve school programming. For instructions on how to link your account to STE, please refer to the Handbook/Directory.

Arrival and Dismissal The safety of our students is always our number one concern. The complete list of rules and regulations is located in our handbook that will be distributed to the youngest child in each family on the first day of school.

• U-turns are illegal on Jackwood and Endicott in the school zone areas. Signs are posted by the city, and you may be ticketed.

Do not double-park on Endicott.

Always use the designated crosswalks and comply with directives given by crossing guards.

• When entering Scotland Yard on foot, use a pedestrian gate only. Do not enter or exit the complex through a vehicle gate.

Be aware of students crossing the street and entering and exiting vehicles.

STE Murray Center Every fall, STE holds the Spaghetti Supper & Family Night, one of the most popular events on campus. This casual evening includes a spaghetti dinner for the entire family, face painting, music, and more.

Book Fair November 17 – 20 STE Library The Book Fair takes place each year in the Robinson Memorial Library, just in time for holiday shopping. During the Book Fair, students, parents, grandparents, faculty, and friends of STE are invited to purchase books from the library’s extensive offerings.

Attendees are also asked to consider donating a book to the library or a classroom. Proceeds from this event benefit the school library and library programming.

Grandparents & Special Friends Day Kindergarten – 5th Grade November 20 STE Campus Each year we invite grandparents and special friends of our Lower School students to join us on campus for a special morning. Grandparents and special friends visit classrooms, participate in activities with their grandchildren, and join us for a Chapel service.
