Personal Statement I am a highly motivated 27-year-old from Ireland who has moved to New Zealand in January 2017. Having worked for eighteen months for a thriving, London based civil construction contractor, and 12 months in the civil contractor industry in Sydney, I am seeking employment in a similar industry in New Zealand. As a graduate of BA Hons Architecture in 2014, I began working with Ballymore Civils, were I was immediately tasked with roles of responsibility. Within a year I was promoted from site engineer to project engineer and in June 2015 I was also appointed Business Development Manager. In December 2015 I moved to Sydney to further my knowledge and experiences within the civil engineering work sector. My experience with Ballymore Civils ranged from working on civil construction projects to restoration and demotion work and building maintenance projects. During my role I was in charge of submitting work tenders, managing health and safety of operatives on site and submitting monthly claims and variations. As a confident, dependable individual, I was also a primary company liaison, dealing with both site management and clients on a regular basis. After arriving in Sydney I found myself temporary work with Sydney Water accredited coordinator and constructor Ausflow Pty Ltd. Having worked with the firm for 11 weeks as an estimator, I was involved in works that included major & minor potable water construction works, major & minor sewer construction works and concrete encasement works. After taking 2 months out of work to go traveling I then returned to Sydney and found employment as a project engineer with Sydney Water accredited constructor Athassel Civl Pty Ltd. Having won numerous contracts on the M4 & M5 Westconnex projects (CPB Contractors, Dragados, Samsung Joint Venture), works included the re-alignment of potable water mains, waste water mains and stormwater mains to facilitate the construction of the new tunnels and a number of motorway/road widening’s. I believe my experience has helped me become a strong candidate to work within the competitive industry in New Zealand and I would like to be given the opportunity to do so.
