The Snail

Some simple experimentations with my snail image. I was inspired to do these pieces by Danny Allison’s “Tortoise and Hare” piece which I analysed earlier in my project. I prefer the first piece on this page because I think the way the snail is more colourful portrays the idea of creativity and imagination more clearly than the second, which os a vital part of my project.

As part of one of our lessons, we were given a tutorial on how to do an effective threshold effect. I chose to experiment with this effect by using my snail image. By doing this, I have managed to make my original snail image look very different and more colourful. It is not something that you would usually see and therefore could be a symbol of the imagination at work.

I have used my previous snail idea to create an experimental pieces. I have used the snail because it is something that is usually associated with being slow and boring, however, by adding colour I think it has made the snail look more exciting. I was playing with idea of making something boring more exciting, and therefore this would inspire people to be more creative because it would show that anything is possible.

My ideas behind this piece are similar to the previous one, however I wanted to experiment by using similar techniques that Luca Molnar uses. I think the previous piece was more successful than this one because it had an unrestricted colour scheme and therefore gave a greater feeling of creativity.
