Urban design
Rokycany is a town threatened by the rapid growth of the adjacent Pilsen. The aim is to restore Rokycany’s character as a self-sufficient town through the revitalisation of the ring road around the historic core. The design perceives its qualities and addresses its deficiencies at several levels, from analysis to detailed designs of individual spaces. The biggest problem is the marginalisation of people as the main users of the city and the optimisation of spaces for individual car traffic. The most obvious negative impact is the undignified design of the entrances to the historic city. The proposal addresses these in detail, examining their current solutions and, where appropriate, proposing better options that return the city back to the people.

Rokycany jsou okresní město ohrožené rychlým rozrůstáním přilehlé Plzně. Cílem je znovu Rokycanům navrátit charakter svébytného města pomocí revitalizace okružní třídy kolem historického jádra. Jako třída je vnímán celý dopravní okruh, který v současném stavu obepíná i zástavbu z druhé poloviny minulého století. Návrh vnímá jeho kvality a řeší jeho nedostatky v několika úrovních od analýzy až po detailní návrhy jednotlivých prostor. Největším problémem je upozaďování lidí jakožto hlavních uživatel města a optimalizace prostorů pro individuální automobilovou dopravu. Nejviditelnějším negativním vlivem jsou nedůstojně řešené vstupy do historického města. Těm se návrh věnuje detailně a zkoumá jejich současné řešení, případně navrhuje lepší varianty, které navrací město zpátky do rukou lidí.

Building ensemble
In colaboration with Liam de Rechter
Berchem. A residential area in the south-east of Antwerp. Former laundry site deserves a new life. The assignment was to preserve the northern building and the chimney, while also placing great emphasis on the “structures” of the proposed buildings. By these we mean not only the load-bearing system of the buildings, but also the structures that shape the space and can react to any change of program. The design process was then mainly focused on these structures and the outdoor space. The concept is based on the archetype of the house as we all know it, so we treated the outdoor spaces as rooms in a house to highlight the differences of intimacy and formality. From north to south, the outdoor spaces become more intimate and cozy. The result is an oasis of calm, amid the constant urban rush.

Ve spolupráci s Liamem de Rechterem
Berchem. Residenční čtvrť na jihovýchodě Antverp. Areál bývalé prádelny si v této krásné čtvrti zaslouží nový život. Zadáním bylo zachovat severní budovu a komín a zároveň byl kladen velký důraz na „struktury“ navrhovaných budov. Těmi je myšlen nejen nosný systém budov, ale také konstrukce, které daný prostor utvářejí a mohou flexibilně reagovat na případnou změnu programu. Proces navrhování byl tedy hlavně soustředěn na tyto struktury a venkovní prostor. Návrh je založen na archetypu domu, jak ho všichni známe, a proto jsme s jednotlivými venkovními prostory pracovali jako s místnostmi v domě, abychom zdůraznili různé úrovně intimity a formality. Ze severu na jih se tak venkovní prostory stávají intimnějšími a útulnějšími. Výsledkem je jakási oáza klidu, v neutichajícím městském ruchu.

The area in front of the Beroun hospital used to be a beautiful place, in the past there was an orchard and before that an untouched natural area. However, modern times centered on automobiles required the destruction of this space and the construction of a parking lot. Although the proposal recognizes the need of a parking lot here, it tries to restore the area to its natural beauty. Therefore, a slab is designed to cover the parking lot and the garden will be restored on its surface. The mass of the slab is used as a multi-functional divided space, which can be used as a gallery, a small studio, or anything else. In this way, the proposal respects the necessity of a utilitarian and not very beautiful parking area, but gives people an environment a little closer to nature.

Prostor před berounskou nemocnicí býval krásným místem, v minulosti zde byl sad a předtím netknutá přírodní plocha. Moderní doba soustředěná na automobily si však vyžádala zničení tohoto prostoru a vystavění parkoviště. Ačkoliv návrh uznává nutnost zachovat zde parkoviště, snaží se prostoru navrátit jeho přírodní krásu. Proto je navržena deska, kterou bude parkoviště překryto a na jejím povrchu bude obnovena zahrada. Tloušťka desky je využita jako multifunkční členěný prostor, který může být využit jako galerie, malý taneční sál, nebo cokoliv dalšího. Struktura inspirovaná včelí pláství dává možnost využít a přirozeně propojit libovolný počet buněk. Návrh takto respektuje nutnost utilitárního a nepříliš krásného prostoru parkoviště, ale dává lidem trochu bližší prostředí přírodě.

Civic building
Community life in Hořovice is stagnating. Young people have few places to meet and spend time. The proposal therefore comes with a new building, which has the task of putting community life in Hořovice back on its feet. At the same time, it uses the paved part of the Červený potok riverbed and intruduces it as a pleasant outdoor sitting area. The building itself has 3 floors. The first floor serves as a footbridge and also as a covered outdoor area for holding small markets or other city activities. The second floor serves as an insulated space for the community and allows for exhibitions, workshops or a small concert. The interior is also complemented by a mini-ramp. On the roof there is a skate park, which is bordered by a perforated sheet metal structure ensuring the safety of the riders.

Občanská stavba
Komunitní život v Hořovicích stagnuje. Mladí lidé mají málo míst, kde se mohou scházet a trávit čas. Návrh proto přichází s novou budovou, která má za úkol komunitní život v Hořovicích opět postavit na nohy. Zároveň využívá zpevněnou část koryta Červeného potoka a představuje ho jako příjemné venkovní posezení. Samotná budova má 3 patra. První podlaží slouží jako lávka a zároveň kryté venkovní prostranství pro konání malých trhů či jiných městských aktivit. Druhé podlaží slouží jako zateplené zázemí pro komunitu a jeho volný prostor umožňuje uskutečnit zde výstavy, workshopy anebo třeba malý koncert. Vnitřní prostor je také doplněn o malou u-rampu. Na střeše budovy se nachází skatepark, který je ohraničený perforovanou plechovou konstrukcí zajišťující bezpečí jezdců.

Our proposal for the Bad Weather Center seamlessly integrates with the natural and historical essence of the Starý Smokovec amphitheater, addressing social needs for both residents and tourists. Inspired by a spiritual mountain journey, the design features three zones: a social square, an active relaxation area, and a serene space for meditation and therapy. Restoring the historic Alpine Fairy building connects past and present, redefining and preserving the amphitheater’s legacy.

Náš návrh Centra špatného počasí se přirozeně začleňuje do přírodní a historické podstaty amfiteátru Starý Smokovec a řeší společenské potřeby obyvatel i turistů. Návrh, inspirovaný duchovní cestou do hor, obsahuje tři zóny: společenské náměstí, prostor pro aktivní odpočinek a klidný prostor pro meditaci a terapii. Obnovení historické budovy Alpské víly propojuje minulost a současnost, nově definuje a zachovává odkaz amfiteátru.

Residential building
Palackého náměstí, located in the busy center of Prague, is defined on two sides by buildings and on one side by a river. The problem occurs at the last side, where the clear shape of the square disappears and flows into Zítkovy sady. The task was to define the square on the fourth side and leave the park on the site of Zítkovy sady. Mirage does so with a two-level mass that defines the square and provides a quiet green area. On the 5th floor, in addition to the swimming pool and a small fitness room, there are two terraces that offer residents a unique view. The park consists of four green islands and a water area and functions as an oasis of calm in an urban environment. The façade is made of aluminum panels, which reflect the greenery and thus give the feeling of more space for nature.

Bytová stavba
Palackého náměstí, lokalizované v rušném centru Prahy, je ze dvou stran definováno budovami a z jedné strany řekou. Problém nastává u poslední strany, kde nám jasný tvar náměstí mizí a vlévá se do Zítkových sadů. Zadáním bylo definovat náměstí i ze strany čtvrté a zanechat park na místě Zítkových sadů. Mirage tak činí pomocí dvouúrovňové hmoty, která definuje náměstí a poskytuje klidnou zelenou plochu. V úrovni 5NP se nachází, kromě bazénu a malého fitness, dvě terasy, které obyvatelům nabízí jedinečný výhled. Park se skládá ze čtyř zelených ostrůvků a vodní plochy a funguje jako jakási oáza klidu v městském prostředí. Fasáda je tvořena hliníkovými panely, které zrcadlí zeleň a dodávají tak pocit většího prostoru pro přírodu, který člověk v této době víc a víc postrádá.

House for an artist
Dance, as one of the oldest and most unique ways of communicating and expressing oneself, can capture every emotion and thus give it another dimension. At the same time, it is important for the top dancers to be able to fully live the dance and pass on their message to us. The working and living parts of the house are therefore divided into two clearly defined volumes. The cubic mass of the studio levitates on columns above the garden and opens into it through a north-oriented glass wall. The light also penetrates the hall through a narrow skylight in the ceiling and vistas in the side walls. In the highest of the three floors of the living area there is a bright living room with a partially covered terrace with views. The two parts are connected with a transparent footbridge, that contrasts with the heavy forms of the rest.

Dům pro umělce
Tanec, jako jeden z nejstarších a nejjedinečnějších způsobů komunikace a vyjádření sebe sama, dokáže zachytit každou emoci a ztvárněním jí tak dát další rozměr. Zároveň je pro vrcholové tanečníky důležité, aby se mohli naprosto sžít s tancem a předat nám tak své sdělení. Pracovní a obytná část domu jsou proto rozděleny do dvou jasně definovaných objemů. Krychlová hmota studia levituje na sloupech nad zahradou a otevírá se do ní prosklenou severní stěnou. Světlo proniká do sálu také úzkým světlíkem ve stropě a průhledy v bočních stěnách. V nejvyšším ze tří pater obytné části se nachází prosvětlený obývací pokoj s částečně krytou terasou s výhledy. Spojovacím prvkem, mezi dvěma objemy, je lehká transparentní lávka, která kontrastuje s těžkou hmotou zbytku.

Basics of architectural desing
This spa, just like any other, is meant for rest and relaxation. What makes them special is their atmosphere, created by the pleasant smooth material of the walls and soft but sufficient lighting. There is no direct lighting from above in the building, the light is always guided by vertical skylights near the perimeter walls. The front wall of the main pool area is made up of seven skylights that resemble light rays penetrating between tree trunks - „Forest“. The spa also includes an unroofed atrium, from which light penetrates to the surface of the main pool. The atmosphere of the spa, and especially its central part with its illuminated front wall, is inspired by passages from the book The Sorrows of Young Werther by J.W. Goethe.

Základy architektonického navrhování
Tyto lázně, vlastně tak jako každé jiné, mají sloužit k odpočinku a klidu. To, co je činí výjimečnými, je jejich atmosféra, vytvořena příjemným hladkým materiálem zdí a jemným, ale dostačujícím osvětlením. Ve stavbě není přímé osvětlení shora, světlo je vždy vedeno vertikálními světlíky při obvodových zdech. Čelní zeď prostoru hlavního bazénu je tvořena sedmi světlíky, které připomínají světelné paprsky pronikající mezi kmeny stromů - “Les”. Součástí lázní je také nezastřešené atrium, ze kterého proniká světlo na hladinu hlavního bazénu. Atmosféra lázní, a především jejich centrální část s prosvětlenou čelní stěnou, je inspirována pasážemi z knihy Utrpení mladého Werthera od J. W. Goetha.
