JAPANESE SCHOOL VISIT After a group of 18 Brighton Secondary School students visited our Japanese sister school, Toyodai Himeji Junior High School, in 2015 and 2016, a group of 20 students from this school came to visit us from 14th to 17th March this year. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to interact with the Japanese students, and those who had been on the trip to Toyodai Himeji enjoyed spending time with their friends from Japan. During this visit, Japanese students spent time with their host brothers/sisters from our school. Brighton Secondary School provided many cultural activities such as an Aboriginal art lesson, an Aussie rules football lesson and a visit to Cleland National Park. However, the highlight of the activities was the MEGA Adventure in West Beach. For some, it was challenging and for others it was a pure adrenaline rush. This visit from Toyodai Himeji Junior High School provided us with an opportunity to develop intercultural understanding. Furthermore, life-long connections were forged between students, teachers and families. Koki Kawaguchi Japanese Teacher
