PROJECT 1. THE RIBBON SEQUENCE LINCOLN, NE

OVERVIEW

The Ribbon Sequence, Lincoln, NE

This project is a redevelopment of a small scale project currently in Lincoln, NE on p and 13th st. my mission was to establish a storm water management system where water can be reused for irrigation purposes. The ribbon is a multi-use development that serves as an iconic draw to the public as well as a gateway into the plaza space.

SECTION ELEVATIONS

The Ribbon Sequence, Lincoln, NE

The section cuts displayed show the N-S and e-w cuts of the ribbon. It fluctuates directionally as well as in scale to open up to the street as a welcoming gesture. This ribbon serves as the main attraction of the plaza. Users are able to interact through active and passive movements. On the north side the user can rest and when traveling to the south side the user establishes a sense of smallness in comparison.

PROJECT2. WATERS EDGE PARK CHONGQING, CHINA

SITE ANALYSIS

Water’s Edge Park Chongqing, China

THIS SITE IS BASED OFF OF A PREEXISTING WATER FILTRATION ESTABLISHMENT. TO BEGIN, OUR STUDIO COLLABORATIVELY DID A TOPOGRAPHY STUDY TO EXAMINE WHAT ELEVATIONS WERE PREEXISTING. AFTER THIS EVALUATION THERE WAS UNDERSTOOD TO BE ROUGHLY A 120 M ELEVATION CHANGE FROM THE HIGHEST TO LOWEST POINT. IN TERMS OF MY PROJECT, I SAW THIS AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO ENHANCE THOSE SPACES AS THEY EXISTED. KEEPING THE HIGH, MIDDLE, AND LOW POINTS AROUND THE SAME SPOT I THEN DETERMINED WHAT WOULD INFLUENCE THE PROJECT BASED OFF OF CHINESE CULTURE.

FULL SITE SECTION

Water’s Edge Park Chongqing, China

SHOWN IS A SECTION CUT OF THE FULL SITE THAT ALLOWED TO BETTER UNDERSTAND HOW MY SITE LAYS WITH THE LAND. THE HIGHEST POINT IS USED AS AN OVERLOOK WITH ADA ACCESSIBILITY ACCESS. THE MIDPOINT USED FOR THE MAIN ACTIVE SPACE CONTAINED SPORTS COURTS, LAWNS, AND A BOARDWALK OVER THE RENOVATED WATER FILTRATION BASINS. MOVING TO THE LOWEST POINT I DESIGNED A PARK THAT HAD POCKETS OF PLAYGROUNDS THROUGHOUT FOR PLAY AND INTERACTION OFF THE PATH. IN BETWEEN THE TREES LIES THE MAIN ATTRACTION OF AN ELEVATED BOARDWALK. THIS IS ALSO ADA COMPLIANT AND ALLOWS FOR The PUBLIC TO IMMERSE THEMSELVES IN The TREETOPS.

SITE ANALYSIS

40-Yr Master Plan Benson, NE

THIS PROJECT WAS CONSTRUCTED WITH TWO CLASSMATES; SEAN KELLY AND JOSIAH NOLTING. WE VISITED THE DOWNTOWN OF BENSON, NE AND EXAMINED THERE WAS A HEAVY CULTURE OF ART BUT ALSO MUCH ROOM FOR ESTABLISHING PLACES FRO THESE ARTISTS TO GO. MY SECTION WAS THE “BUSINESS” DISTRICT OF BENSON. THIS ALLOWED FOR A CONNECTION BETWEEN THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATELY OWNED BUSINESSES TO COME TOGETHER IN COLLABORATION OF CO-WORK SPACES OR WITHIN SHARED SPACES SUCH AS MARKETS AND DINING AREAS.
