The basic concept is to built a modern house using traditional materials and construction techniques to conserve the traditional ambience.

Massing of the building in two different opposite sides and it helps to get void spaces in two different levels.

First and second levels were shifted in different levels.

Substracting the above massing and making double height in building massing.

This studio villa is divided into two distinct and isolated zones; Living/media/home entertainment and sleeping.Each zone must be accessed by leaving the occupied zone,stepping outside, and entering a different space.This separation offers a unique opportunity to continuousely experinec the raw desert landscape.

The structurer connecting the two main spaces will provide adiidtional room adjacent to the living area for kitchen space and also the retreat’s only bathroom.

Above the space will be a mezzanine creating the sapce between sapces.The mezzanine will allow for views of the desert while providing a small firepit appropriate for additioanl outdoor gatherings for guests to private self reflection.

The Sleeping area located towards the rear of the retreat provides isolation, privacy and views of the park’s rock performance.

Conceptual Sketch

The location of the site is at wayanad,Kerala,which is also an hill station.As it was sloppy towards the road and after that there was water body.There with the large crown,the site was very suitable for the senior citizen.

ENTRY VIEW The retaining wall acts as a funnel directing movement to either the stairs directly to the patio and private space or directly to the entry doors of the media space.

MEDIA SPACE With the addition of projection glass occupants would be able to screen movies or sporting events accross the east side glass openings and seemingly against the landscape.

PRIVATE SPACE The bed space would allow for a quiet,close up view of the north facing rock formations.

The whole idea of this studio villa comes from the surrounding and environment and architecture with the presentation local building materials. As the climate of wayanad is tropical,so providing a sloping roof in that region is more suitable providing in open courtyard with a visual connectivity of internal and external landscape helps in creating a good relationship with the nature and green.These space also provide the sense of security as it is an individual villa.

The activities of the senior people of the family needs to separated so instead of expanding the footprint of villa.The villa get another floor with one guest room at the firts floor and ample of space for the old people.

Both space essentially have the same shape or footprint however the private space is slightly smaller than the entertaining room.Large windows and an open floor plan would lend to spectacular views of the landscape while the adjacent kitchen and bathroom areas would also and to the effect of a dinner like setting.

A home is something that represents the living habits and culture of the family.

So while designing an house for a fashion designer i thought to include some sort of elements with fabric with planilaque glass combo.

Not only in terms of aesthetics,but in terms of spaces and inner relation with the environment as per the site,with some additional spaces apart form regular plan.
