2.0 2.0

In her first recital: A Journey to Hope, Stefanie brought us through the journey where she found hope in the toughest of situations as she was confronted by uncertainties and significant challenges that left her feeling lost.

This year, in her second recital: A Journey to Hope 2.0: Let Light Shine'. Stefanie shares with us the next lap of her journey where she found light in her continuous battle against the same uncertainties and challenges. This newfound light fueled her inner strength to hold on to her dreams and resilience to face these ups and downs. Today, this light has shown Stefanie more about herself and surrounded by those who have supported her, she wants to celebrate these moments of victory with us through this recital.

Stefanie Loh is an educator who has a strong passion in the arts. After experiencing cancer in 2008 and slipping into coma for two weeks, Stefanie woke up only to realise that the surgery had robbed her of the ability to eat, to speak and to swallow. During devastating circumstances, Stefanie experienced first-hand the healing power of music and how it helped her through that difficult period of her life. As the saying goes, "When words fail, Music speaks", music allowed Stefanie to express her inner feelings and emotions when words were inadequate Since then, Stefanie believes in using music as a healing tool to help others overcome adversities through music making.

In 2018, Stefanie's composition was featured at the imagin Asia concert held at the Victoria Theatre, a concert which aims to present cultural and artistic tradition and this further enhanced her love for songwriting. Her flair for songwriting was affirmed and recognised when she won first prize in the Original Composition Category at both the Bach International Music Competition and the UK International Music Competition Season 1 in 2022. She also earned a Silver Prize in the Professional Category at the Sibelius Music Competition in 2023 This year, Stefanie achieved second place in the Debussy International Music Competition and was awarded the Musical Sensibility Special Prize. Additionally, she received the Platinum Prize at the 10th Universal Music Stars Music Competition held in June

As a performer, Stefanie found comfort through music making and participated in numerous projects with Bands before venturing into choral music in 2012 In 2021, she decided to take a step further to deepen her love for music making by taking up vocal lessons with the main focus on musical theatre under the guidance of Mr Leslie Tay, which provided her the courage to step out of her comfort zone and was recently offered a role in an upcoming Musical 'Merlion' a President Challenge Award Project. .

Dennis Lin is an avid performer who loves the stage since young. With a strong passion in music and singing, he was featured as a solo singer during his education journey.

Dennis is a current member of the Singapore Lyric Opera's (SLO) Chorus. In a production of Macbeth by The Mad Scene in 2022, he was cast as Malcolm and sang a duet with Singaporean tenor, Jonathan Charles Tay. In the SLO Chorus in Concert held at Esplanade Recital Studio last year, he was specially mentioned by 'The Strait Times' for his solo performance due to his stellar portrayal of angst and vulnerability through the piece. Dennis is set to perform in the upcoming SLO GALA concert in October.

Over the years, he further explored operatic performances under the music directorship of Vincent Chen, as part of the chorus Esplanade’s presentation of Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte, Rossini’s La Cenerentola and Puccini’s La Boheme.

Dennis is currently under the guidance of tenor Mr. Leslie Tay Hwee-Liang in continuing his vocal development, focusing on musical and classical vocal repertoire. Under his guidance, Dennis obtained distinction for his grade 5 ABRSM vocal exam

He also attended masterclasses and received private lessons with Shane Schag, Music Director for the American Musical Theatre Ensemble at the Manhattan School of Music. He was recently offered a role in an upcoming Musical ‘Merlion’ a President Challenge Award Project.
