Coming off a 20-year career in economic development and real estate, an opportunity emerged for Doug Rasmussen to utilize a different set of skills. His ear for music and nose for talent propelled him into a career managing rock bands. And while success ensued, his greatest takeaway was in overlaying the authenticity and collaboration inherent to great music with a better way to do development. In 2019, CEO Doug Rasmussen created a new sound in economic and community development by founding Steadfast City.

Steadfast City Economic & Community Partners is a development and planning firm with a simple mission: Develop Better.

Through an integrated team, Steadfast City weaves together government, business, real estate, social, and the philanthropic sectors to create positive outcomes for our clients’ expansion, development, and investment projects. Effectively navigating the unique challenges that developers, businesses, public entities, and not-for-profits face is a result of working in and for each of those industries.

The Chuck Berry Childhood House St. Louis, MO
"Our purpose is rooted in elevating businesses that create jobs, real estate developers who rebuild neighborhoods, cities that need revitalization, organizations that effectuate positive change, and people who benefit from all of these working together.”

"The best made places are the ones that trigger the senses emotionally, even wistfully, while taking advantage of the natural micro-climate and the industrial pulse of the city. The crash of the waves from the pier at night, the ambient lighthouse or neon sign through the fog, the trumpet distant off the bricks of the quarter, the smell of the chocolate or coffee or beer factory when the wind blows just right."

1. TANNER JONES PROJECT MANAGER, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT | 2022 TANNER@STEADFASTCITY.COM (trombone)

Part of our journey toward a more holistic model of economic and community development and nonprofit consulting is defined by art and music, especially avant-garde jazz, which transcends defined boundaries. Like art and music, vibrant cities and effective economic development cannot grow stagnant. Because we intentionally try new strategies, we naturally avoid getting stuck in a formula of what once worked. Instead, we orchestrate a metaphorical new sound by layering sectors like government, business, real estate, social, community, philanthropy and non-profit.

Steadfast City Economic & Community Partners is composed of the most adventurous and innovative people in the economic and community development industry, offering a unique ensemble of business and real estate development incentives, planning, new markets tax credits, grant writing, non-profit fund development and consulting. Our band of bad ass players (employees) challenge the traditional sound and arrangements of the field with arrangements that blend finance, planning, real estate, government, social work, marketing, operations, philanthropy and entrepreneurism. The group adds creativity and an outlet for a new sound in economic and community development, urban

planning, and non-profit consulting. We merge government, business, real estate, for-profit, and nonprofit into a newer, better sound, one that elevates neighborhoods, organizations, businesses and communities.
