any of our volunteers are ‘visible’ in our shops, café, on reception, on the wards and out in the community. But some volunteers carry out important work ‘behind the scenes’, ensuring that our support teams can help everyone! Over the past two years, our Finance team has been quietly expanding the number of volunteers it involves. Volunteers have always counted cash – our collecting cans contained over £63,331 in 2018/2019, so that’s a lots of cash to count, and we receive other cash donations on top of this. Volunteers have recently become more involved in supporting day-to-day finance work as well, such as processing invoices, coding petty cash, counting cash for daily banking, and processing Christmas orders for cards and gifts.
