CONFESSION SCHEDULE Saturday—St. Francis Xavier—before 4:30PM Mass—3:30 to 4:15PM Sunday—St. Francis Xavier—following 8:00AM Mass—9:00 to 9:30AM Sunday—St. Augustine—following 10:30AM Mass—11:30 to 12Noon WEEKLY STEWARDSHIP REPORT Our weekly collection total was $ 5,171.00. Thank you for your generosity. LIFELINE “In modern times, children in their mothers’ wombs and those approaching the end of their lives are certainly among the ‘least of these’ in our world’s estimation. Practices such as abortion and assisted suicide tragically reject the truth that human life is always to be cherished and defended with loving concern. … Through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, may Our Lord grant us the grace to truly and courageously live his Gospel of life.” ~ USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities, “Live the Gospel of Life” NABRE © 2010 CCD. Used with permission.

On this past Monday after Pentecost, what is now called the Memorial of Mary, Mater Ecclesia or Mother of the Church, we entered, or more accurately re-entered the season of the liturgical year known as Ordinary Time. We might think of this as the name describes—“ordinary,” humdrum, commonplace, just passing time until we get to Advent, but ordinary time is anything but ordinary. The Latin word at its root is “orior,” which means “to rise up” or “to grow.” It is related to the Latin word “oriens,” which refers to the rising of the sun in the East. In both cases we gain a sense that Ordinary Time is an opportunity for us to grow in the practice and promise of our faith. We were created as a composite of body and soul, endowed by our Creator with the gifts of the physical senses of our bodies: sight, touch, sound, smell, taste. At its deeper levels prayer involves all the senses. Liturgical music, gestures like the Sign of the Cross or the Sign of Peace, incense, colors—all are meant to draw us deeper into the mystery of God’s love we experience through our senses at Holy Mass. The green of Ordinary Time evokes the life, hope and growth of Creation that we experience so vividly in and out of the church at this wonderful time of year. The readings of Ordinary Time focus on the public ministry of Jesus—what He did and taught from the time of His Baptism in the Jordan River to His entry into Jerusalem to complete His mission on earth and reconcile us to God through His Passion, Death and Resurrection. We follow our Lord as He reveals Himself and teaches us the truths of the Kingdom of God. In doing so, we hope to better understand and appropriate these truths in the way we live daily for God and others. If we do so faithfully and hopefully, this time will be anything but ordinary. May God bless you and yours richly in these glorious days of summer and lead you deeper into the mystery of His Mercy and Love now and always and forever. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam…To the Greater Glory of God. Father Kevin COLLECTION FOR THE CARE & EDUCATION OF PRIESTS—THANK YOU Thank you to everyone who supported our second collection last weekend.
