We should always bless ourselves with the Sign of the Cross deliberately, not hurriedly or sloppily. The deepest mysteries of our Faith are contained within this profound symbol. Listen to what Monsignor Romano Guardini, a renowned liturgist of the last century has to say about it: “When we cross ourselves, let it be with a real sign of the cross. Instead of a small cramped gesture that gives no notion of its meaning, let us make a large unhurried sign, from forehead to breast, from shoulder to shoulder, consciously feeling how it includes the whole of us, our thoughts, our attitudes, our body and soul, every part of us at once, how it consecrates and sanctifies us. It does so because it is the sign of our redemption. On the cross Christ redeemed mankind; by the cross He sanctifies man to the last shred and fibre of his being.” Ave Crux, Spes Unica: Hail the cross, our only Hope! The cross of Christ is indeed our only hope, for there is salvation by none other. Therefore, we should make the Sign of the Cross often every day, and always make it thoughtfully and well. Next week we will look at bowing and genuflection. May God continue to bless you all richly, now and forever. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam...To the Greater Glory of God. Father Kevin WINE, WOMEN AND PSALMS In the interest of building a greater sense of community, combating isolation and connecting more deeply with Sacred Scripture, we will conduct a periodic (weekly or biweekly) women’s group that gathers for fellowship, faith sharing and study of the weekly Responsorial Psalm. We are looking for options for where and when to hold it, but most likely would be a weekday evening from 6:00-7:30PM, possibly at the rectory, a host’s home on a rotating basis, or possibly a local establishment. We are open to any suggestions and want to gauge interest, so feel free to call Father Miller at the rectory or send an email. DAY PILGRIMAGES In the interest of deepening our relationship with God and His Blessed Mother, our Mother through prayer, devotions and pilgrimage, we are looking at conducting day pilgrimages to a number of shrines within a day’s travel, specifically Divine Mercy at Stockbridge, MA, Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, St. John Neumann in Philadelphia and the North American Martyrs in upstate NY, just to name a few. To gauge interest and offer to participate, please call Father Miller or send an email. PLEASE SEE THE BULLETIN INSERT FOR ALL THE IMPORTANT PICNIC NEWS
