The DofE is a fun way to allow students to develop such skills as teamwork, leadership, and perseverance. These are attributes that universities and employers highly value and DofE looks great on your CV! The DofE award is split into 5 sections at Gold level: Volunteering, Physical, Skill, Expedition, and the Residential! If you did not do Silver, don’t worry! You can still do Gold you just need to undertake a further 6 months in either the Volunteering, Physical or Skill sections. Check out the DofE website for more info and get in touch to get involved! It is never too late!

Student Ambassadors Programme

St Brendan's Student Ambassadors are a team of students who assist at college events by offering support, encouragement, and advice to prospective students and their parents/carers! Events include college open days, school visits, Year 10 Discovery Days and Freshers Fest! Events occur throughout the year, Ambassadors can help out at as many or as few as they like! It looks great on future uni/job applications and is an amazing way to make new friends!

We encourage you to come along to build your confidence as you debate and discuss topics from politics, to ethics, to popular culture! It is a great way to make friends and develop your oracy skills.

Languages Cafe

The Languages Café is a weekly club where staff and students come together to learn and practice a wide variety of languages ranging from French, German, and Spanish to Italian, Polish, Turkish and Korean!

Whether you are fluent or a complete beginner, everyone is welcome! This will also give us the chance to celebrate multiculturalism within our St Brendan's as we have such an incredibly diverse student and staff body!

Dungeons and Dragons is a role play, story telling game. It is a great way to build confidence, make friends and develop your ability to be both creative and strategic.

Various projects will take place, from tree planting, to raising awareness, to planning projects to improve St Brendan's ability to be "zero carbon", to upcycling pallets into garden furniture and creating "bee friendly" gardens, the activities are endless! A great way to make friends and help the planet!

Then our online technical theatreworkshops could be for you!The Nationwide Young Technicians Digital Course offersan exciting opportunity todevelop your skills and learn all about a variety of backstage and off-stage rolesfrom top industry professionals.This FREE course will be online on Tuesday evenings from 5pm 7pm, running from Tuesday 17 January to Tuesday 21 March. In these workshops you’ll be introduced tothe basics of technical theatre including lighting, sound and stages, through demonstrationsand practical activities.

Do you want to have the opportunity to lead sporting events at the College? There will also be an opportunity to receive support and mentoring from the fully qualified professionals in the sports industry.

After your training, you will be provided with an activity or wellness session to run. This could be for both students and staff to attend! Even if you are not part of a sporting club but are keen to develop great leadership skills, or if you have a desire to be part of the sporting community, get in touch! This could really boost your CV/uni application!
