IMPORTANT INFORMATION

What is a Census? A census is the process used to acquire information about every member of a given population. This term is mostly used in connection with national 'population and door to door censuses' (to be taken every 10 years according to United Nations recommendations). Most Caribbean countries conduct censuses every 10 years. Confidentiality The law requires that all individuals or identifiable information collected from the census remain confidential. When you, and all other field staff, accept the job as an enumerator, as well as employees of the Anguilla Statistics Department (ASD), you must sign an oath of secrecy. Field Officer - Supervisor The field officer - supervisor is responsible for directing and guiding the field officer - enumerators assigned to work under them, ensuring that the right procedures are followed, appropriate questions in the questionnaires are asked and responses recorded correctly. Field Officer - Enumerator Together with the field officers – supervisor and Area Managers, the field officers- enumerators will be responsible for collecting data. Field officers – enumerator’s job is to ask questions about everyone who slept in the household on Census Night (18:00hrs June 15th 06:00hrs June 16th, 2022) and record the answers correctly. Household This will be the basic unit of enumeration. For the purpose of this survey, a household may be defined as a person or a group of persons, who occupy a common dwelling (or part of it) for at least four (4) days a week and who provide themselves jointly with food and other essentials for living. In other words, they live together as a unit. People who occupy the same dwelling, but who do not share food or other essentials, are to be enumerated as separate households. For example, people who shared a dwelling, but who bought food and ate separately, are counted as separate household. Dwelling A structurally separate and independent place of abode. It should be noted that the occupants of a housing unit do not automatically constitute a single household and it follows that there can be two or more households within the same housing unit.
