Congratulations to Dr. Adrian Guerra for being one of 30 individuals throughout the United States to be selected to participate in the “Aspiring Superintendents Academy for Latino and Latina Leaders”.

This Academy is a highly interactive year-long program that provides participants with the real-world skills a next generation superintendent will need to thrive. The Academy will cover topics essential to developing a deep understanding of the leadership role of a successful superintendent.

Graduates of the academy should be well equipped to lead 21st century schools with creativity, vision and a commitment to equity and excellence.

Participants are screened for the highest quality candidates.

Those selected for participation in the program will be outstanding, high-performing leaders whose next logical career moves would be to the superintendency.

Dr. Guerra is currently the Special Education Director for Roma ISD, where he previously served as Federal Programs Director, Performing Arts Director, and Choir Director. He is a member of the Texas Association of School Administrators and the American Association of School Administrators.

He serves as board member for the Starr County Hospital District and member of the Texas Continuing Advisory Committee on Special Education. He also serves as Minister of Music for Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Roma.

Who Will be Rio Grande City’s Next Miss Freedom Fest?

The Rio Grande City Miss Freedom Fest Pageant is set to take place on Friday, June 7, 2024, offering young women in the community a chance to showcase their talents and contend for the coveted title.

Registration packets for the pageant are now available and can be picked up at the Kelsey Bass Museum located at 101 S. Washington Street. This event, a highlight of the city’s annual Freedom Fest celebration, offers participants an opportunity to represent Rio Grande City with pride and grace.

“We’re thrilled to announce the upcoming Miss Freedom Fest Pageant,” said Cathy Rubio, coordinator of the event. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for young women in our community to showcase their talents and be part of our city’s festivities.”
